At a Loss for a Doc

Post by kate_ce1995 »

Well, I now live in rural Vermont and established myself with a doctor, well liked by Geoff's female relatives last year. Over the summer, she quit. Through illnesses in the family, it has become apparent that the office she worked out of is in a total dissarray. So I was going to start going to another doc. Called today to get an appointment. Unless I'm a new maternity case, their practice is closed! This leaves like 2 other docs in town, both male, one of whom is good friends with my parents so I ain't going to him! It was a bit of a kick in the face given the fact that I couldn't even get in under the maternity case situation! And I had figured this doc would be good with the hormone issues I have upcoming because she deals with women maternity and otherwise.

Definate shortage of good docs in a small town area. Yes there are other docs out there, but I really wanted one who was local so on the day when I'm sick in bed and need to go in to see what is the matter, I don't need to travel half hour or more to get there. When I'm healthy I don't mind having to drive a bit.

Just venting.

I hear you. When I was a kid, a phone call would bring out a local doc to make a house call, from my home town, seven miles away. Every little town around here had a doctor. Now, the nearest doc is about 20 miles away. Sigh.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

I feel your pain Katy. My GP's husband just got a job on the other side of the country! There ain't too many docs here in the big city either...at least ones that are accepting new patients. I finally found one, moved my file, only to find he's on vacation until the 13th. Uffda!

Good luck in finding one. I hope you get it sorted out soon.

Love
Peg

Im feeling your pain too Katy---

Like Wayne said---years back the good old docs would come to your house---them were the dayz!!!

Like me---when I have to see GI---its into the city---a nice ride till U get to the George Washington Bridge--fight the traffic--take about an hour--find a space to park(if one is lucky) or get into a parking garage and pay the 30-40 bucks!!!

And also what Peg said-----Sorry Doc. :whatever: isnt taking any more NEW patients!!!! :anger:

Hope U find the best---
take care
keep a smile

Ha Ha, My great Grandpa was one of those docs! He had a car in the summer, and a horse team in the winter when the roads were bad. Still is a beach named for him on a lake in Minnesota.
