Ok I have scheduled a pick up of my test for tomorrow between 1-5. Now that means I have to take the sample to work with me which means it could be out of the freezer for up to 8 hours. I am worrying about the odor issue. Once it starts to thaw out will there be that "pleasant" odor radiating from the package? Would it be ok to keep it out of the freezer for that long?
I cant wait until I get my results back!

I'm not sure if degradation due to the temperature rise will adversely affect the test results, or not. If you're concerned, you could pack it in ice, (in an ice chest), when you take it out of the freezer. If you have access to a source of dry ice, you could keep it frozen in an ice chest all day.
I doubt that odor will be a major problem, provided the sample container is properly sealed, but as the temperature of the sample rises, it will have a pressure increase, which will eventually be likely to cause some minor gas leakage out of the container.

Well granted that it is being shipped overnight I doubt that the sample will stay frozen the whole time but I would like it to be as cool as possible during the hours it is shipping so I guess I will have to pack it in ice until it is shipped.
Because the maximum weight has to be less than one pound I would not be able to pack it with ice packs or anything like that.

Right. Don't worry about it after DHL, (or whoever), picks it up. As long as it is frozen, (or as close to frozen as you can maintain it), when they pick it up, it should make the rest of the trip without significant deterioration. It will stay in pretty good condition for one day. A second or third day off ice, though, would probably be bad news for the integrity of the sample.
