Who would of thought!

Post by Janie »

Went to a Drs. appt. for my husband at the Urologist office. He asked why I lost so much weight. I told him about my MC. He proceeded to tell me that is some nasty stuff. He discussed changing my diet to bland low fiber basic foods and find my triggers. We discussed the meds for it and some other stuff. Who would have thought an Urologist.

Hi Janie,

Interesting. Based on past experience, my opinion is that we are more likely to encounter a doctor in another specialty who understands the dietary connection with MC, than a gastroenterologist who makes the connection. I believe that's because a doctor from another specialty isn't worried about being sued when discussing a medical issue outside of his or her specialty. I have a hunch that GI docs are not as dumb as they act, but they're afraid to think out of the box on the job for fear of being sued if something goes wrong, so they go by the book, and the book says that diet has nothing to do with MC.

But that's just my opinion, and in reality, I suppose they actually could be as dumb as they act.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

A gynecologist helped me the most with my thyroid issues and medication because he had thyroid problems himself! Too bad I went to him for a couple of years and he decided to semi retire and stop seeing patients.

I guess that Uroogists see lots of women with interstitial cystitis. Among other fun things.....
