Seeing progress on this rocky road....more elimination than

Post by persevere »

Hi
History of IBS since forever, got the LC diagnosis late Aug. All the doc said was to double fiber. ....that was a disaster and then I found you guys. What a relief. I was getting nowhere until I actually took out everything but the RAT Diet. No banana for me. Things calmed. Added broth. Almond butter, jelly. Ok. Next week chicken. No go. But well cooked beef and potato good. Slowly tried a few well cooked veggies.
I would have been happy but the GERD was tearing up the stomach.
Chasing as much info on Mast and sensitivities, I was using pepcid. Pepto B, and drinking baking soda nightly.
But the D had diminished.
Last week after a narrow escape from a potty disaster, I took to drinking Premier protein shakes. And one medifast potato packet.
No meat. No grain. No veggie. And the Gerd has subsided to Tums only.
And my gut isn't roiling. This diet seems so extreme, and I don't think it should go on long, but the experience of no GI distress is profound.
While this doesn't follow recommendations, and certainly doesn't fit any diet protocols maybe I should stay here for a while. Is this what healing feels like? Certainly proves everyone has a different path.

Glad you're feeling so much better. Yes, when we manage to avoid all the foods that cause us to react, our intestines can begin to heal.

Thanks for the update, and I hope your progress continues.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

listen to your body...

in MC world there is no right way or wrong way, there is your way...
the guidelines here are broad type suggestions that suit majority.

go slow on testing ingredients. trying too many things close together is high risk for major flare/set back
