Vit D receptor and infection

Post by Gabes-Apg »

talking with my functional practitioner this topic came up (as they know i have super keen interest in Vit D3, magnesium, Vit D receptor etc)

given various recent discussions about
a) lyme,
b) virus/bacteria and impact on health
c) having good levels of Vit D3 in blood test results, but still having inflammation issues

i thought this topic may be of interest to some members here
You may well have good levels of Vit D3 in you blood (as confirmed by blood tests) BUT if the Vit D3 receptor within the cell is not functioning properly then the body does not use that Vit D3 effectively for inflammation.
Vitamin D (Active form - 1,25 dihydroxy vitamin D3) ramps up Non Specific
(innate) immune system. It decreases the specific system (T and B cells). This
then releases AMPs (like antibiotics but natural) into our system. Kills
viruses, bacteria, fungal and cancer cells.
Many Infections can disable the vitamin D system!!
If infections block this receptor or alter Vit D metabolism or stop the VDR
from activating cellular antimicrobial defences, this decreases our innate
immune system (non specific system) – causes a dysregulation of our
immune ability to signal appropriately to other parts of our immune system.
HIV Blocks receptor 100% down regulation
Borrelia Burgdorferi 50% down regulation
HSV4/EBV (Glandular Fever) Dec VDR transcription 5x
90% pop infected by 40y/o
HSV5/CMV Dec VDR transcription by 2.2X
90% pop infected by 80y/o
HSV6 (Roseola) 100% pop infected. Child rash
VDR PATHOGENS(INHIBIT VDR FUNCTION)
Helicobacter Pylori – Est 50% pop has infection. Capnine deactivates
VDR. Biofilms also produce capnine.
Pseudomonas Aeruginosa, Shigella, Aspergillus Fumigatus,
Mycobacterium Tuberculosis - VDR dec 3.3 fold.
CWD Bacteia: L Form Bacteria, Mycoplasma (one of main cause of RA)
: no cell wall hard to kill. (T&T 4 yrs).

A greater understanding of how bacteria resist standard antibiotic approaches is also being gained. A protocol has been developed that is successfully restoring VDR and innate immune function with a VDR agonist and eliminating pathogens with low-dose, pulsed combinations of antibiotics. Immunopathological reactions (a.k.a., Jarisch-Herxheimer reactions) occur due to increased pro-inflammatory cytokines resulting from bacterial killing. The result is an exacerbation of symptoms with each dose of antibiotic, but improvement occurs over the long-term. Remission is being achieved in numerous chronic conditions, including many autoimmune diseases and fibromyalgia, as well as many diseases of aging. Although vitamin D ingestion is avoided as part of this protocol, the evidence indicates that the net result of the protocol is improved vitamin D receptor activation.

I am not saying that this applies to EVERYONE here. moreso for those with multiple health issues, that are struggling to attain wellness it is another thing to look at. Please note this is Functional medicine approach - mainstream doctors will not be savy/aware of this

My VDR receptor gene doesn't operate at its optimum (hence why I had a VitD level of 9 back in 2008 that a Dr said I just needed more VitD but not a clue that I wasn't utilizing it even while taking it)....until I learned about the Magnesium combo....and that is when the light bulb went off in my body for me.....

I am so thankful to have come across the intuitive people here. My VitD would not be 83 right now if it wasn't for the knowledge shared here.

I am also doing much better not getting infections, having fatigue....I could go on an on.....

I guess I'm saying unless one has a DNA testing and targets their VDR receptor situation then one doesn't really know. I'm glad I did the 23andMe and now I know more than I may ever need to...but now I have a fighting chance when I am faced with needing to take something or not, because now I know if my genes may or may not support it.

agreed Erica
but for some people ... good Vit D3 levels and magnesium may not be enough for the body to respond effectively to inflammation. hence why I share this info.

delving into the information, the linkage of things like Lyme - not only is it impacting to the immune system but has the potential to impact every cell and key functions like the Vit D receptor.

I see people here that are 70% there in the wellness journey, but struggling to move higher in the wellness status. I figure that if by sharing this info I help just one person then it is worth it.

Very true

the VitD and Mag are just the beginning in the healing of who knows how many situations. I'm not sure how many people are really aware of the DNA information out there now. I know I wasn't until I did the testing and you helped me find the right way to start looking at it :bigbighug:

I didn't know we have so many Vit D receptors either....I last heard there were around 250??? Wow who knew!!

So yes, anything you can corral and share on topics like this are very interesting indeed

Hugs
Erica
