vitamin recommendations
Hi all,
Can you give me recommendations for what brands/types of vitamins/supplements you recommend?
Magnesium, vitamin Bs, calcium, and vitamin D? What brands, specific names of products, and where to buy them. Thanks for your help. I am really tired of feeling lousy :(

vitamin Bs, - Thorne Research Methyl Guard Plus
calcium - never take it (at least not intentionally)
vitamin D - Doctor's Best - 5,000 IU

Vitamin D3 (I take 5000 daily, in the beginning after getting vitD results I needed 10,000 for a while)
K2 100mcg = MK7 form (I feel it helps with my VitD absorption)
No Calcium....only in food or drink
Before I recommend B's (Tex for those of us that do not carry the MTHFR gene do we still need the Folate?)

Thiamine

P5P 50mg= B6 active form
Vitamin C 500mg berry chewables
Potassium 300 mg daily (only because I am on the low side on my blood tests)

Maybe not, it depends on your personal situation, but if you have histamine issues, the B-6 should help. If you take any B vitamins, the active forms will always work better than the cheap forms, but if someone doesn't have histamine issues I would at least step down from the Methyl-Guard Plus to the regular Methyl-Guard. Small refresher course on the B's please....Which B do we take for what purpose?
I'm a bit confused about the Methyl-Folate B I guess, thinking we don't need much of it if our methylation cycle is able to break down B9, and P5P=B6 and Methylcobalmin B12 adequately, and that would be if we don't have the MTHFR gene inhibiting it.
B9 - riboflavin
B6 - P5P
B12 - methylcobalmin
Folate - 5-MTHF
I haven't been taking any because I have thought I didn't need it...

The advantage of taking the active forms of vitamins is simple — we absorb them better, especially if our digestion is compromised by a reaction, and they are useable as absorbed, without any additional chemical processes. If your levels look good after taking the inactive forms (or not taking any vitamins at all), then there's no need to take them.

I don't know Tex, I have been taking the active forms of everything this past year and a half, just not the Folate part.....if it helps with our MC I should give it a try....
