More Cramping

Post by Pam V »

As we heal,do we go through periods where we need to up our magnesium and Vitamin D?

I have been taking 3 Kirkman Magnesium Bisglycinate Chelate and 3 Vitamin D (1,000 IU), as well as 3 Methylguard Plus/day. I’m tapering off Budesonide and have been taking 1 3-mg pill every other day. I am planning on stretching that to 1 every 3 Days beginning this week. Also take one to two Zyrtec per day. Things have been going well.

Within the past 10 days or so, I am waking up with foot cramps. Even in the AM. when I am putting on my socks or tights, my right foot starts to cramp up. I bought some Mo Maggie lotion and sometimes put a little on. Yesterday I took time for an Epsom soak.

Do you think I should increase my Mag/Vit D? Could cooler weather or something else be causing this to happen? I still generally drink 6-8 glasses of water each day.

Thank you so much for any advice you can share.

I’m grateful for your help!!!

Assuming that's at least 300 mg worth of magnesium, that should be enough. If you drink coffee though, or any other magnesium-depleting foods, or take any magnesium-depleting medications, you might need more magnesium, (as long as your kidneys are working OK). Foot soaks in Epsom salts should be effective for that. I have a hunch that as we age it's just more difficult for our body to handle all the chemical processes as smoothly it did as when we were younger. Our blood circulation is probably not near as effective at keeping all the cells well supplied with everything they need as when we were younger.

Geez, now I'm gettin' just like the doctors — trying to blame everything on old age.

I would favour the topical mag, epsom salt foot soak or magnesium oil works really well.
