Deep blog reading

Post by Glfouts207 »

I’ve been reading most of all the old sticky blogs and some old topics.

Just wanted to pass on a few observations and questions to anyone who wants to answer.

1. With foods that had a plus 1 on the EnteroLab results you could do a rotation diet with those foods. Is that ok?
Stay away from foods that are 2 and 3 plus.

2. HPT can aggravate symptoms. I’m on natural hormone replacement, if I don’t take them the hot flashes are unbearable. I feel stuck about that. It’s a real see-saw as to what would make my life more unbearable, hot flashes or WD. Both are terrible, life altering.

3. Sinus issues are made worse by LC and I shouldn’t take the allergy shots my ENT wants me to take. Thoughts?

4. Soy allergy can produce very bad episodes, more so than other allergens with same or greater IgA test. Soy and it reactions can mask other allergens.

5. Stress of any kind is one of our biggest enemies. It can take a diet going well, and make it a mess. A must to survive is to learn what is stressful to us and how we carry that stressfulness in our bodies and learn how to “dump it”. Couldn’t resist the pun!

Those are my first 5 thoughts. I wanted to see what others thought about my observations in deep diving.
Ps. must read Tex’s book several times to really process the loads of information in it.

Thanks Ginny

Yes....

symptoms of menopause/hormone issues are generally related to nutrient deficiencies like Magnesium, B6 and zinc.

3. Sinus issues are made worse by LC and I shouldn’t take the allergy shots my ENT wants me to take. Thoughts?
Histamine/allergy issues are linked to deficiency of magnesium and B6. I resolved life long allergy/asthma issues once i fixed magnesium and B6 issues. Read the posts in the mast cell and methylation areas

4. Soy allergy can produce very bad episodes, more so than other allergens with same or greater IgA test. Soy and it reactions can mask other allergens.
Soy has become a bad trigger in current day as a) it is cheap and in EVERYTHING b) the product that is being used is a waste product that our bodies can not digest c) genetically most ango saxon origin people can not digest soy.
10 years ago, soy was not used as filler in foods, now it is in everything.

love the pun! yes along with the right eating plan, and right supps, we need to make lifestyle changes/adjustments. there are some good reads and suggestions in the guidelines to recovery area that can help with this. we have to 'budget' our physical, mental and emotional energies. Sticking to our safe bland low inflammation eating plan is a good foundation for the long term. for the times that there is excess stress of any kind then our bodies can handle it. if we have trigger foods along with unplanned stress that is when a flare can occur

To expand on point 1 above
I have my 'safe' eating plan of ingredients that I stick to day to day
(and have been for near 8 years)

I have some ingredients that are sometimes foods, i can do 2-3 small serves per week. (any more than this I notice increase in inflammation)
I have some other ingredients that are treat foods, i can have small amount every 2 months or so (only if i am well and having a good week health wise)

hope this makes sense

I also plan/budget social outings/eating out etc. If going away for a weekend/or have situation of doing mega hours at work etc, I will ensure the week preceeding that i have good meals of my safest ingredients, while travelling /situation of extra stress - will have extra supplements to support the body for the change in routine/extra inflammation etc.
if having contact with high histamine type foods or environments, i increase B6 and magnesium intake to help body modulate this

I know how long it takes for my body to recover from big weekends/big events and ensure that the days after are low key, I have lots of pre made safe meals in the freezer, juggle the routine to get extra rest, extra epsom salt foot soaks etc

Same for hormone fluctuations -
long story short - listen to my body rest if I need to rest, eat more protein if I am hungry, increase doses of key supps if I need it.

I’m very excited that since being gluten, and egg free I’m doing better. I’ve cut most soy out of my diet but found out soy is sneaky! I take 15,000 units of vit D everyday, and have been for 4 years. I know it’s alot but blood work shows I’m in the normal range. But I was shocked it has soy in it grrr. So I’m going tomorrow to look for new vitamins at Whole Foods. I started Mag about a year ago, the Chelated kind 400mg daily. I couldn’t stand the gel, it reminded me of when my mother use to put “vic’s Vapor rub” on me. I’m going to check into a Bcomplex. Do you think that is enough magnesium?

I’ll take the hormone information to my Doctor, she’s is very knowledgeable about what I need. She thinks outside the box.

Thanks for your insight, I know you have many years of experience and I thank you for restating things over and over for us newbies. Many thanks to those of you who have blazed the trail for us.

Thanks
Ginny.

Re the Vit D3 - your body needs good amounts of available magnesium to use the Vit D3 properly in the body

re the magnesium dosage, we need a minimum of 350mg ELEMENTAL magnesium per day
check the label of the product you are taking for how many tablets are needed for each dose, and how much elemental magnesium you are getting per dose.
if you dont like the gel, epsom salt foot soaks are great. 1 cup of epsom salts soak for 20 mins in warm water, this will give you up to 200mg of magnesium
