Thank you for your reply, links and information, Gabes!Gabes-Apg wrote:topical zinc does not work so well.
i have tolerated high high dose zinc orally with no issues MC wise.
like anything in MC world, start low and slow and and work up gradually, you get what you pay for, dont buy cheap and nasty, spend a bit extra for better quality.
like the dr dean remag product, there is highly absorbable ionised zinc drops available on iherb.
now foods or thorne brand of zinc piconolate are good oral products
zinc is best taken of a night, and if someone is low in B6 (or P5P active form) then zinc can make you a little bit nauseous.
based on your post above, i would start on P5P first and then after 6 weeks start taking some zinc. the long term aim is to have your zinc blood test result higher than the copper.
hope this helps.
Do you take zinc before bed or or a few hours before? I try to avoid drinking liquid two hours before bed... Or I'm up a few hours later.
My copper level was on the high end of normal. My zinc was on the high end of deficient. Two points off of low normal if I remember correctly. These tests were done about 2 1/2 weeks ago. B6 was tested July 7 and it was 41.7 (range is 2.1 to 21.7). August 7th it was 24.1, so closer to the normal range than before. FYI, I started taking methyl B12 in late July (took too much too soon for a few days) then started taking low doses of it on August 8th in case that is helpful info. Not sure why B6 varied so much month to month. I started D3 in early August after blood work.
Considering this maybe I don't need to start P5P before zinc. I like the idea of the liquid so you can lower dose unlike the Thorne capsule. I likely will start whatever new supplement in early December after birthday, holiday and seeing the new GI doctor next week as well as another doctor appointment.
I really appreciate your support and help. I haven't weighed myself since the last doctor visit three weeks ago (114), but feel my size 2 Old Navy shorts feeling a little bit looser. It's a frustrating situation, but easier knowing I have this support group to reach out to. Seeing all your replies today has really helped knowing I'm not alone in this.
Have a good week!
