Pressure cooker for bone broth
Aloha - getting a pressure cooker - Instant Pot - for the holidays. I saw one person said they use a pressure cooker. I sure would like to cook meat in 1 hour. Any input on if this would impact the quality of the bone broth? Thanks in advance & happy holidays!

Hi Alohagirl, I would highly recommend getting an Instant Pot. They are so much easier than a traditional pressure cooker and you can make nice broths in an hour. I usually pressure my chicken or beef for 30 minutes, remove the meat and then pressure the bones again for about 90 minutes. It's not necessary to do it that long but I get a great, gelatinous broth. Deb

I have an Instant Pot that I only used once and I want to make bone broth in it. Thanks, Deb! I'm a little afraid to use it, but I know that it's fairly easy to use.

Marcia, it can feel a bit intimidating at first.
With me it was because I always had a bit of a fear of pressure cookers. The Instant Pot has a relatively easy learning curve and I use mine on a nearly daily basis. It's really just set it and forget it. Just read the instructions thoroughly and start with the water test. Deb

Deb, I will start with the water test and go from there. I have a fear of pressure cookers, too but I know they've come a long way since the pressure cookers of my youth!

Hi, Kathryn. I make bone broth with turkey bones after I roast a turkey. I'm sure others will reply, some order the bones online. I don't eat chicken so I can't use chicken bones to make mine.
