Are Enterolab results final for life

Post by Erica P-G »

I guess I'm curious if once you are marked as having reaction to certain things in the #1 category are you marked with them reacting to you for life?

I am not sure if it is because I am not rotating my #1 reactive foods well enough or if it is something else that I can have bristol #4 a couple days and then the next 3-4 days it begins to be mud and really watery.

Or is this just how MC healing presents itself?

I am no scientist or expert but my 20 cents worth...
when most people do their enterlab tests they are inflammed, have nutrient imbalances and increased histamine levels. I think this has got to have some impact on the results.

in tex's case his soy result changed - he posted about this in a recent thread/discussion.

Good question, Erica. I would like to have the test again to see what I react to. I have normans most of the time but I am curious nonetheless. I am reluctant to spend the money again, though. It was well worth it the first time around!

Mine definitely changed, for the good. I have had the testing 3 times. Here are my results. Deb I only did the 11 antigenic foods the last time.

Fecal Anti-gliadin IgA 30 Units (Normal Range is less than 10 Units) It was 510 in 2010 and 31 in 2011
Fecal Anti-casein (cow’s milk) IgA 7 Units (Normal Range is less than 10 Units) It was 33 in 2010, 16 in 2011
Fecal Anti-ovalbumin (chicken egg) IgA 6 Units (Normal Range is less than 10 Units) It was 19 in 2011
Fecal Anti-soy IgA 7 Units (Normal Range is less than 10 Units) It was 44 in 2011
Mean Value 11 Antigenic Foods 8 Units (Normal Range is less than 10 Units)
While all of the foods tested can be immune-stimulating, the hierarchy of reactions detected were as follows:
Food to which there was no significant immunological reactivity:
Food to which there was some immunological reactivity (1+): oats
Food to which there was moderate immunological reactivity (2+): none
Food to which there was significant and/or the most immunological reactivity (3+):none
Food to which there was no significant immunological reactivity
Corn
Rice
Beef
Chicken
Pork
Tuna
Almond
Walnut
Cashew
White potato
I quit eating gluten in 2010 but continued to eat dairy and eggs (and tried not to include soy products in my diet) as they didn't seem to impact my MC.

Thanks Gabes....having faith in the healing process is what it's all about....I suspect my altering episodes are something else other than food at this point.

I have plenty of external things going on and I guess I will never be able to get a handle on them all, I will continue to keep dealing with the ups and downs of MC world.

Marcia, maybe I will have it done one more time in another 4-5 years....by then I should be on what ever routine I've set out for myself by then :-)

Hugs
Erica

I am so glad you raised this question at this time Erica. I seem to be jumping around with reactions that I can't get a handle on and wondered if this was the time to retest. I know for a fact that the initial test I sent in saved my life. I was in deep doodoo when I sent my specimens in a couple of years ago and am so grateful that I was given a path to follow. I have been thinking about finding out if things are different now after being diligent about watching the diet religiously. I guess it's nice to know we have someone watching our back at this juncture.

Deb,
Your Enterolab results are wonderful and encouraging. My question is this: Does this mean that you can now safely eat soy, dairy and eggs? In other words, if any of us eventually get an Enterolab retest and our results go down below the normal of 10 on the big four, is it then safe to resume those things?

I find it interesting that you continued to eat dairy and eggs even though your scores were high on those things.

Susan, I was fortunate in that I got results early on by just eliminating gluten. My gluten results were off the charts high. Being able to continue dairy, etc. doesn't seem to be the norm. I continued eating dairy, mostly just cheese, occasional eggs and didn't seek out soy. I don't know if I'm just an anomaly but I certainly feel fortunate. Today all I have to avoid to feel good is gluten and I know that is for life. Deb
