remission is not easy at first, sadly there is no quick fix or guarenteed solution.
stop, breathe. relax. it is early days of your healing journey.
trying too many things at once, swapping and changing every day causes more issues.
at this stage, adding foods with intent to gain weight will not help. weight gain will only come when the digestion system is calm.
first focus is calming digestion system.
mucus is clear/cloudy liquid the body produces when there is inflammation (to protect the cells, various tracts etc) runny nose is mucus, raspy cough is mucus, and in our bowel motions, gooeyness, snot like substance is excess mucus coming from the digestion tract.
have you looked at our stage one eating plan in the guidelines to recovery section... going back to bland small amount of ingredients works really well.. it is not forever, it is just what is needed at first.

Ares, This is true. There is no magic quick fix to eliminate gas early on. It took me two years to get to remission (age 50). I was doing pretty good at 1 year. Start a log book to log what causes the most gas and stick to foods causing less gas.remission does not seem easy!
Early on, when we are first diagnosed almost everything will cause gas.
I thank you so much to everyone! I have difficulty understanding why this disease but it would be difficult to explain to others that the renouncement of certain foods depends on my colon creating gas and mucus would not be a beautiful image to describe! yesterday I tested three foods the eggs was almost a year since I ate them, rice flour and coconut milk and I made pancakes! I swollen and my colon hurts but yesterday I managed to go to the bathroom! I redid them today and I have pains of colon and air! plus if I eat rice cakes as a snack I burn my throat and mouth! it seems that carbohydrates are my enemies! Tomorrow I'll try only the egg and later the coconut milk to see if I swell and create gas! if I eat 200g of lactose-free ricotta in the morning I have no gas! it's strange ! but a bit of throat burning! when I ate pasta I had no burns (gas and mucus yes) maybe it made me less acidic than now I eat meat meat meat! I do not know what it is to eat a piece of fruit should I take vitamins in the morning?
Ares, there are is at least one mfg of coconut milk on the grocery market that do not have xantham gum or guar gum. Check different groceries and health food markets and read the ingredients before you buy to see if you can find one without xantham gum and without guar gum. Ingredient should be coconut milk and water only.
Most of the coconut milk have guar and xantham but there are some for sale without guar and xantham.

there is a food guide list: to understand better? because it does not seem to have a colon but a giant snail! the amount of mucus and disconcerting and I eliminated pasta bread and fruit and I did not eat anything else!
how do you understand that a food does not create problems if I eat air but sometimes I think it is the food digested earlier hours ago?

It could be due to food you ate 3–6 hours earlier, or it could be due to food you ate yesterday. Keep a food/reaction diary. That's the only reliable way to tell. Here is a link to a combined list of foods that you should avoid:

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
When I first was healing everything gave me gas. I just stuck with turkey, well cooked carrots with some olive oil. I ate it over and over again, six times a day for 1 month. I still had gas. I did not care who heard me! I added other veggies and lamb or pork. I didn't try any thing else for almost a whole year. I went into remission after 6 mos. I waited another 6 mos. to add anything. I lost weight but now have added 5 lbs. I would rather be thin than stay in a flare-up.
I don't understand a lot about this disease and frankly don't want to add to my stress by worrying about gas etc. I just give them a heads up by telling them I am adding to the ozone layer. Just keep on the plain diet as you can.

thanks also to the irony of nitrogen! the problem is that the gas I do is from balloon. so going for lunch or dinner is a problem! I have problem even if I go to the dentist or in places with people the fear of making gas is great! I have read several American Sites and the MC present Diarrhea so I asked myself perhaps understand a remission is given by the reduction of diarrhea attacks! and some types are anti diarrheal! but I suffer from constipation is not mentioned much in the Mc and the presence of stool still creates mucus to almost normal people! with constipation it is not easy because the mucus is present and it is not clear if there is an improvement or a food that is good or not! unfortunately the smell is sometimes stronger or less strong but there is. and the gas is not understood if the food is created immediately or is that digested hours before or is created by fermentation of stool stopped! if you do not eat fruit and no dried fruit from where can I get the basic potassium for the heart circulation and muscles?
Hi Ares. I have LC. I can eat rice but find other carbohydrates like white potatoes cause me discomfort, bloating and gas. I'm also like you in that I don't suffer from Diarrhoea. If anything my issue is Constipation. As Tex said above keep a food diary as this will help pin point what might be causing the issue and only eat unprocessed foods while you're trying to work out the irritant, because processed foods have loads of ingredients and there origin can be varied. It might be best to see a nutritionist who can help you with a)getting some food sensitivity testing completed and then offering some advice on how to get the nutrients your body needs.
Also worth reading Tex's book. There is a reference in there to a scientist who proved who could be healthy just eating meat alone. I'm not saying this is the answer, but indicating that everything we have been taught about nutrition may not be as clear or as true as we think. Here in Australia the government just recently released a scientific paper about the importance of grains/wheat in the diet. The paper was sponsored by Kelloggs and the research articles that were cited in the paper were fro mother 'scientific' studies which had been sponsored by Kelloggs. I'm not sure that's just a coincidence.

you are correct Janie, majority of the past 8 years of my MC journey has been C not D
my suggestions to alleviate constipation issues
- increase water intake
- increase fat intake, coconut oil, fatty cuts of meat,
- small amount of gentle fibre - peeled apple eaten slowly, watered down pear juice, (note small amount)
- dont overcook your safe veges, have some of them a bit more al-dente (but dont go overboard and do raw veges as this will bulk the stool and make it harder to pass)
- small amount of oral magnesium (while maintaining topical magnesium)
it takes time to correct C issues, (ie 48hours minimum) so start low and slow with gentle fibre and oral magnesium, wait 48 hours if no improvement in BM, increase it slightly again, dont stop once BM's are improved, otherwise you may revert back to C. tweak amounts of things until you get to the happy medium of regular motions with minimal symptoms
water intake - dont need to go low and slow with this
increase fat intake - I would do this before considering increasing fibre
hope this helps

thanks for your help and support it is important above all not knowing others with this problem! But I would like to understand what you mean by mucus because for me and how to have a colon of jam to the apricot not to mention that yellow gummy I feel alien and the gas type jam session jazz and the smell of film splatter! I am ashamed of this disorder that creates these disorders! the nutritionist had given me more than 50 percent carbohydrates without understanding that they hurt me. gastroenterologists have given me budesonide never taken! but the foods I eat do not make me understand and they do not help me to the symptoms and at the end with the constipation one does not understand who causes and who not! today I ate lettuce and citrioli in the hope of stimulating the movement of the colon but it is harmful because they create gas and at the same time sometimes the gas creates difficulty occupying and enlarging the colon! if I cook boiled zucchini or green beans even if more digestible they make gas and no big motility! the meat the eggs the rice and the bananas are considered constipation foods! the apple swells me immediately and the pear is the same! the paradox of fruit is that as I eat I produce gas !!! it seems to be without the bust :) it seems that fructose is gunpowder! like carbohydrates and potatoes! and I live in a place where bread, pasta and pizza and fruit are common for lunch and dinner everywhere !!!

PS. most of us have found "nutritionists" to be pretty useless with our situation.
