Alright well here goes,

I am feeling incredibly depressed about my symptoms and I really don't know what to do at this point. This is the chronology.

I had typical long standing watery diarrhea with my LC for the past 2 years, recently it has become constipation with nausea. Now as of recent I am peeing nearly 30 times a day and having chronic watery diarrhea again.

I am taking:

Omega D3 fish oil. very high IU
DGL Liquorice Root.
11 Compound probiotic, considering stopping as you said, Tex.
I am eating an entirely organic, gluten free, other irritant free diet.
As well I am taking Magnesium transdermal. 400mg a day

Please help, someone.

Hi Joel,

If you're taking much more than a couple thousand IUs of fish oil, it's probably causing diarrhea.

Liquorice root taken on a routine basis can have adverse consequences. For one thing it reacts with a number of common medications. It interferes with cortiocosteroids, for example. I have no idea whether it might be the cause of your constipation/GERD issues, but I would be afraid to use it. It's claimed to resolve GERD and all sorts of related issues, but has it worked?

I would drop the fish oil, Liquorice root, and probiotic. Then the diet might have a chance of working.

But remember, this is just my opinion.

I do not nor have I ever taken the Budisonide that I was given. The DGL has resolved my GERD I think, but doing it simultaneous with the diet too makes it unclear to tell. What should I be taking regularly ?

Thanks again

Hi Joel and welcome to the forum!

You probably feel like crap right now and are confused what to do. We've all been there..

Listen to Tex, he is right! Get on a low inflammation diet and take vit d3 (not fish oil) and topical mag. Personally I would also take the budesonide to help with the healing.

You will get better!

I am having another problem that is now driving me crazy !

If im not nauseous I am peeing a lot every day, this morning I woke up to find a medium sized orange pee stain like grouping on my bed. I am worried that I lost control of my bladder due to all the peeing and its freaking me out. Has anyone had these symptoms with LC

Yes, frequent and urgent urinating episodes are a symptom of severe magnesium deficiency. It can mimic diabetes or interstitial cystitis. I solved the problem by doubling or tripling my magnesium intake.

i agree with Tex, magnesium deficiency. Bed wetting is one of hte most common symptoms.

topical magnesium in high doses in the few hours before bedtime will help alot.

Magnesium deficiency is a good bet. But I would advice you to check your blood sugar levels, just to be sure. Excess peeing is a staple symptom of diabetes.

With MC you are probably predisposed for autoimmune diseases. I got diabetes 1 a couple of years after I got CC.

Tor (and joel)
of note, low magnesium is linked to insulin resistance (which is like the precurser to diabetes)

Epsom salt baths are good for magnesium.

Listen to Tex about ditching the licorice root, fish oil and probiotic. Less supplements is better when we have WD.

Welcome to the forum!

Consider the budesonide or prescription cholestyramine if you are depressed to help kick you back into remission.

It is possible to go into remission from diet alone but it takes awhile.

I find the magnesium oil itches after 20 minutes and I have to shower it off. Some of the magnesium lotions don't itch. Take an Epsom salt bath every day with 2 cups of Epsom salts.

do you recommend the use of Budsonide to achieve remission along with good diet ?

Using budesonide will get you to remission faster, because it will help suppress the inflammation and it may mask some of your food sensitivities. But you will have to take the budesonide longer than most gastrointerologists usually prescribe it, and you will need to taper the dose somewhat longer than your GI doc recommends to prevent a relapse from the mast cell rebound after you end the treatment.

At least that's my opinion.

Budenside help many get to good remission - and in line with Tex's reply above, the length of time and how you approach the taper off budenside is key to good long term stability of symptoms.

there are some members here that budenside does not work.
