That Slippery Slope
Hello. Just a word of advice to newbies. I have been in remission for almost four years and have been very fortunate and haven't had a bad flare. I have been under a lot of stress at work for the past two months and I am a stress eater. I purchased Enjoy Life Chocolate Chip cookies on Vitacost when they were on sale. I have been able to eat them in the past without a problem, but eating them every day has now caused issues for me. I am hoping that I'm not going into a full blown flare and I'm now drinking bone broth for lunch but please beware of gluten free foods. It could be the chocolate in the cookie, I guess I really won't every know but it's enough to scare me straight. No more cookies!

Hi Marcia,
I had the same experience. They seemed fine until I developed the habit of eating a few every day. After a while it became obvious that I needed to stop eating them.
I have a hunch that things like this occur because, even though they meet the legal definition of GF, DF, etc., the small amounts (traces) of ingredients that cause us to react continue to accumulate until they eventually cause us to react to them. It could even be the histamines in the chocolate that tend to build up in our body. At any rate, IMO, this is exactly why anyone who is recovering from MC, and anyone in a flare, should avoid all processed foods.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Thank you! I bought Pamela's GF, DF chocolate chip cookies....so good, let them go. Made Bone broth yesterday/today. Kinda starting over, added carrots, rice, gr. NY strip. Beef bones. Tastes so good, hope it does as well as it tastes.Marcia K wrote:Hello. Just a word of advice to newbies.
