AIP for IBD

Post by ldubois7 »

I gravitated to a paleo/AIP diet early on in my MC journey and have stayed with it, because it’s worked for me.

If you’re thinking of trying the diet there are many sources that help with articles and recipes. I follow Phoenix Helix on FB.
You can google AIP/paleo on Pinterest, too.

I like it except for the fermented foods, thought they weren't good for MC'ers?

I am eating an old school fermented dill pickle a day but early on in recovery I would not have been able to tolerate it.

I guess I have to modify my statement....I don’t do well with fermented foods, even after 5 plus years with MC. I can have a little tiny bit...like a pickle slice with a burger...that’s about it.
Even broth only works for me if I only consume a small amount....that’s me...we are all different! But, sticking with a slightly modified AIP/paleo diet plan has been very beneficial.

I basically eat like that (without the fermented food) but I cheat with potato chips that I can tolerate. I purchased The Healing Kitchen cookbook by Alaena Haber & Sarah Ballantyne which is AIP.

Hi all,

I follow the AIP since last year for finetuning my diet and at this moment everything is clear, except coffee. I doubted for a long time and then thought for some time I could tolerate it, but at the moment I think I can't. It takes a rather long time to find it all out, but it is worth to do it.
I also don't eat the fermented food, didn't even try it.
