vals positive test voor Lyme?

Post by sonja »

Hi all,

Some time ago I wrote about my positive test for lyme disease (for the second time in 2 years), the antibiotics I had to take for three weeks and the questions about a possible relation with MC.
One week after the antibiotics I was tested again and the result was similar to that prior to the antibiotics and very rare: IGM positive, what means an active infection (but that is impossible after the antibiotics) and IGG still dubieus (what should be positive after an infection with borrrelia). My doctor want to test me again after two months.
Ik now that some times people with auto immuun illnesses like MS have a false positive test and I guess that's the question. It looks like a have been taken antibiotics for nothing and stopped the magnesium and other supplements for nothing. (This was recommended because it could diminish the working of the antibiotics.)
Feeling at the moment much better since I stopped antibiotic and restarted my supplements a month ago! And of course I'm glad that it looks like I didn't have lyme disease. If i get new information in a few months, I'll inform you.

Hi Sonia,

Thanks for sharing the update information. That's interesting that it's possible to get a false positive result.

I'm glad that you're feeling better and don't have Lyme, Sonja. Thanks for the update. I live in one of the worst tick states and I am now paranoid about getting Lyme disease.

I suspect that may have happened with me as well Sonja. I had a positive test for early Lyme, but didn't know of any tick bites and didn't have any Lyme symptoms. I also took the antibiotics, but not sure if I had too. Thankfully they don't seem to have obviously set me back...
