Okay,
I think I've identified one of my downfalls. After a couple of days eating healthfully and gluten free, my stomach doesn't feel as "full" (fat is probably a better word), and I give in more easily to eating whatever.
What ideas do you all use successfully for getting past that urge to pig out? I have been eating what I think is relatively healthfully all winter, despite a few indiscretions particularly last week, and I've been getting more active, but yet I still can't loose the weight or the inches
I need some motivation and pep talks here folks!
Katy

Katy,
I lost 20 lbs and my husband lost 40 lbs on the Zone Diet and we were never hungry...so we never felt the urge to pig out. We ate huge portions of vegetables, three big meals and two snacks a day. I think the big key is finding the diet that's right for you. I tried to loose before that, but I think I was always eating too many carbs for me. If you want to find out more you can visit www.drsears.com
I KNOW you can do it, if I did. I thought it would never happen, but it did!
Don't lose heart!

Hi Katy!
I've lost 20 lbs so far on the South Beach Diet. I eat 3 meals and snacks in between and a sugar free dessert after dinner. I have eliminated all "white" foods (sugar, flour, pasta) from my diet. I eat the leanest meat I can find (size no biger than the palm of my hand), sugar-free and less than 3 grams of fat and sugar if buying canned, etc. foods.
My energy is returning and I have lost the cravings for the things I have (almost) given up. I do "splurge" every once in a while. I have 5 more lbs to loose to reach my first personal goal. It' motivating and exciting once you find what works for YOU.
I never thought I could do what I'm doing now, and loose weight and inches too. I am going to begin my exercise walking tapes on Monday. Still fighting this crud so the nose and coughing are still with me. Hopefully it will be gone by Monday.
One of my "comfort" foods is hard boiled eggs. I eat them a few times a day. For sweets (if you crave them), I eat sugar-free fudgesicles, frozen grapes and dried apricots. You can also roll the grapes in sugar-free jello granules and then freeze them.
By eating when I do, I avoid being hungrey and craving food all the time. I used to eat about one meal a day and now feel like I'm eating all the time but the quantities are much smaller.
Research a few diets and see what you can adapt to within your intolerances. Find one that isn't demanding or depriving. Make sure you eat when hungrey, even if it is only 2 or 3 bites. Keeps the energy level reved up.
Hang in there! You'll find one that works for you and we will be there to cheer you on! If you need any other help or ideas about the South Beach Diet, Pm me or ask here, I'll be glad to help all I can.
Oh yea, the first 2 weeks were a conscience effort on my part to pay attention and do what I needed to do to stay on the diet. Now it has become habit to eat correctly (for me) and to choose more wisely.
You can do it!
Love,
Mars
