Hi All -
I have my physical coming up in a few weeks - things have been going pretty well. I have again dropped the Budesonide to one every four days, which seems to be okay. I take one Methylguard Plus every morning. I also take one Kirkman Magnesium (accompanied by 2,000 IU of Vit D) three times each day. My allergies are acting up so I am taking Zyrtec twice a day (I had brought my daughter to an allergist several years ago and he had said you could take more than one/day safely even though the label says once daily).
I understand that I should stop all supplements three days prior to my fasting blood tests. I believe that I should continue to get Magnesium topically through lotion or Epsom Salt baths. I'm reaching out to you for confirmation that this is a good plan. Also, how long would you suggest that I take Budesonide once every four days? Do I stop completely at the end of this or would you suggest that I stretch it to once every five days?
This will be my first visit with my GP since I was having GI issues last Spring which resulted in a colonoscopy and diagnosis. I still have to follow up with my GI, which I am a little nervous about.
Thank you for your help!
Pam

Hi Pam,
If you're taking any vitamin B-12, you would need to stop it about a week before the blood draw if you're planning on testing B-12. Otherwise, it wouldn't matter.
IMO, about 2 weeks at once every 4 days should be sufficient if you're doing well. Some members carry it out farther if they feel a need to be extra cautious.
Good luck with the appointments. They should go well if you're doing OK and recovering well. That always makes doctors happy.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
