Enterolab test results today- Surprising Results

Post by JohnnyG »

So I got my results today. Really surprised. Looks like Gluten for sure and borderline on Soy. I never eat tuna but have had suspected that salmon may be an issue. Any thoughts on why results are so low? I have been on Budesonide for 5 months and special diet for about the same timeframe.

Thanks!

There are at least two possibilities:

1. You might have selective IgA deficiency.

2. You might have caught this quickly.

The longer we react, the higher the antibody becomes. Your overall score on the 11 other antigenic foods was only 6. Because of that, tuna may be a perfectly safe food, also. Most of us are sensitive to casein. You lucked out, and after you recover, dairy products should be safe for you. While you still have inflammation, you will be lactose intolerant, but that should slowly disappear as you heal

Overall, your results are much better than most of us.

Thanks so much Tex! You and this forum have been so helpful, it is very much appreciated!

In the last couple weeks I have made great improvement. I totally cut out soy and milk products along with gluten free. I went from 8 Imodium a day down to 3. I have been pretty consistent, having what I would call controlled diarrhea one or twice a day, first thing in the morning. I'm still taking Budesonide (3 mg x3) each morning and hope to be able to slowly get off that.

So with the Enterolab results, I am wondering about issues I may have with fish oil. I have been taking Vit. D3 (5000 IU x 2 per day) this contains Fish (Cod). And have also been taking Fish oil 1400 mg softgels. Any thoughts on this? Any other way to get my D3?

So from what I have been reading, I should stay on the strict diet until inflammation heals which may be 6 months to a year? Am I thinking correctly?

As many have stated on this forum, it's a process. I've learned so much but have much more to learn as this process continues.

Doctor's Best Vitamin D uses extra virgin olive oil. It's difficult to predict how long recovery will take, but it sounds as though you are on track. Yes, try to avoid adding anything until after you are in stable remission, and off budesonide for about 2 months.

You're very welcome

Tex,

Sorry it took me so long to respond, been really busy and just found this information.
I was tested on 7/17/17 for Immunoglobulin A and results were 148 - on a ref-range of 81-463 mg/dL
This was befor I was diagnosed with LC but I was having lots of gut issues then.

What do you think? Should I have another test done?

I was traveling over the weekend and must have gotten some bad food somewhere, I had one bad day with watery D but seem to have come out of it with only one bad day.

Thanks,
John
