How to treat the flu?

Post by JulieHaggy »

Help! I've been exposed to the flu and am so scared I will get it. If I do, should I take the Tamiflu? What other recommendations do you have? I'm taking Vitamin D 5000 per day along with Thorne Methyl Guard Plus. Getting Magnesium through epsom salts foot baths and spray. Thanks for your help!

As I recall, during the bird flu threat, the vitamin D council recommended taking 2,000 IU of vitamin D per day, per kg of body weight at the first signs of symptoms. I suppose this could be used to preempt the flu, also. They recommended continuing to take it for 3 or 4 days (at which point the symptoms should be declining). For example, if you weigh 60 kg (132 lbs), you would take about 120,000 IU of vitamin D per day. I keep some 50,000 IU capsules on hand for such purposes.

Have you tried Vitamine C powder? I use Sodium Ascorbate. You need to built up the dose though otherwise you’d might get into problems.

Tex,

Where do you get your 50,000 Vitamin D3? I haven't seen any.

And Julie,

I teach school and every single morning, I go in and Lysol my room down and wipe off tables and keyboards. My husband and I went to IHop the other day and we carry WetOnes with us everywhere we go. I wiped down the menu, the salt and pepper shakers, the ketchup bottle and the syrup bottle my husband wanted to use. Call me crazy, but I'm a germaphobe now and I don't think you can be too careful.

It's been a few years. As I recall, I ordered it online from some small shop, but I can't recall the name. I think I've seen it listed in a few other places since then. Back then, finding safe vitamin D was a lot trickier, hopefully it will be easier now. Have you tried Googling it?

I like your style, it definitely makes sense to cut down the risk any we can. Even if you get the flu, that won't make you immune because there are two strains going around here.

Tex,

I guess I just didn't think about googling it. Many options came up on Amazon. Think I'll order me some to have just in case! Thanks.

Thanks for reminding me. I probably need to order a fresh supply myself just in case what I have is getting old. I have no idea whether it loses strength with age or not, but it very likely does.
