Is Celery Extract Soy Free?

Post by Rosie »

I've noticed that celery extract is showing up as a replacement for rosemary extract in many food products, especially uncured meats and ground turkey and sausage. It serves the same purpose, namely adding nitrites in a technically "natural" way, so that the products can be labeled as not containing added nitrites or nitrates. I have searched both this site and on google to find out whether the extract contains soy or other problematic ingredients and have been frustrated. Can anyone here answer the question?
