Fiber introduction and Remission
I am on month 5 of Budesonide and now take it every 4th day, as I am having one to two solid bowel movements a day (mainly in the morning only.) Some bowel movements cause a slight constipated type of strain but are solid and formed but, there are times when I still feel I have to go again within the next few hours (which I don't.) I remember back in August being diagnosed and told by my GI to "maintain low fiber and low fat" until the Budesonide starts working, which I have. My question is:
Can I start to re-introduce some type of Fiber supplement (Metamucil, etc soluble, or in-soluble form) of dietary supplement mixed with water to help with the constipating feeling at times? (I am still avoiding natural fiber in food, IE nuts, Legumes and lettuce/salads for now) until I'm 100% sure my colon/intestines can handle it. I ate a piece of lettuce on a Gluten free bread chicken sandwich a few weeks backs and had the worst intestinal pain I've every experienced in the middle of the night, until I final went to the bathroom after 2-3 hours of stomach pain. I know I need to re-introduce Fiber in my diet somehow without bringing back on on symptoms, after a refreshing 2 months of M/C re-mission! Thanks for the input and replies!
*I do eat blueberries and pineapple chunks, along with a Gluten free diet every day.

Until someone else chimes in...since you are tapering the Budesonide to every 4th day....what kind of Magnesium are you taking daily?
I wouldn't do much fiber persay....I'd regulate my Magnesium first. You could take 1/2 Mag Citrate and 1/2 Mag Glycinate that would help with any constipation and you can regulate the doses to suit yourself.
Again...I would be careful with any fiber as it is rough on our tender healing intestines. I am almost 3 years into healing and I'm still careful about fiber. I did not take the Budesonide either so I know the fiber can wreck my day if I get too much.
Also the sugar in fruit along with their fiber may be too much fructose as a lot of MCers can't tolerate much fructose in the small intestine (for me if I get too much of a serving it creates gas and cramps....not fun).

Fiber introduction-
I’ll have to check my Mag Supplement bottle for the ingredients your talking of, as you have to be a chemist to figure it all out % wise. I do take Mag supplements daily, along with Omega 3 fish oil and Vitamin D.
I don’t get leg cramps but, do get severe back spasms and developed Insomnia through this journey of bodily torture! I was using Mag lotion at night but, have been lacking in applying lately. I have read that too much Magnisium can cause constipation, hence my concern and adding some non soluable fiber to assist with feeling “regular” and not feeling stopped up the rest of the day. I’m usually fine after lunch and through the nite, it’s the morning movement that dictates my day and how I feel until the afternoon, which is ok!
I’ve lost 50 lbs in 10 months through all this and have not put any weight back on, as Im eating leaner and healthier (no junk food, Gluten Free, limited sugar, no coffee or caffeine and steamed vegetables, usually with chicken, pork or beef.) I know I’m no where near getting the recommended daily nutritional intake, which has taken its toll on my body, General health and mental wellbeing.
Any and all GI doctors I’ve seen are of NO HELP, as this last year has worn me down. I’ve been tested for every possible ailment known to medical history (including Cancer) and still struggle with lethargy, Insomnia, back pain and Tinnitus that was brought on by the MC.
At a losss here with making progress based on this forum...

if you want to increase fibre, then doing via your safe foods might be a better way. ie, dont overcook the veges as much, or try small amount of salad ingredients (minus the seeds) ie cucumber, grated zuchini, some tomato (with minimal seeds), baby spinach leaves again do these in small amounts, one at a time. other option is peeled apple.

I eat Spinach now like Popeye! Lol! Love it with a sprinkling of melted Mozzarella cheese. Im following all the right suggestions via this forum (Magnesium, Vitamin D and Gluten free) but, cannot put any weight back on and the chronic fatigue is starting to set in again, even with Insomnia, which makes my next day worse from being exhausted and stressed.
Currently taking Busperione and Xanax to relieve the stress this all brings on, which I hate taking, even though I believe I’m healing from Budesonide with a bout or 2 of constipation at times, which destroys my whole days work schedule...

I believe you're misinterpreting some of what you read. Constipation is a symptom of a chronic magnesium deficiency, not a symptom of taking too much magnesium. Taking too much magnesium will cause diarrhea.

I take a Mag Supplement, including what’s in my multi-Vitamin. What is the max dose of Magnesium I should be taking? I was also taking Butyrate with Calcium and Magnesium but, ran out last week. I will also restart my Magnesium Oil spray on my legs daily. Is there a blood test for Magnesium levels?

The magnesium in almost all multi-vitamins is in the form of magnesium oxide and you/we can only absorb about 4 % of that. Magnesium tests are pretty much of a "sticky wicket". The serum tests that all doctors always order is virtually useless. You can get an RBC (red blood cell) test for magnesium that is not ideal, but it's far better than the serum test that doctors usually order by default. But you'll have to interpret the results yourself.
The reason why the serum test is almost useless is because it measures magnesium in the bloodstream even though the blood contains only about 1 to 2 % or the total magnesium in the body and the amount is closely regulated because magnesium is a vital electrolyte. The so-called "normal" range for magnesium is just plain wrong. Why? Because approximately 80 % of the subjects in that study were magnesium deficient, so the "normal" range for magnesium is based on corrupt data. I agree with Dr. Carolyn Dean who says that the correct normal range for the RBC test should be at least 6.0–6.5 mg/dL. Most labs show the "normal" range as 3.9-5.8 mg/dL. Here's a reference:

For my insomnia I have started to rub magnesium chloride oil under my feet (in addition to supplementing with Mag Glycinate and ReMag during the day). It works wonders! Not only do I sleep, I have increased the hours from 5 to 7 hours night sleep. Also, my trips to the bathroom have decreased; from 3-4 to 1-0.

As to amount of magnesium, a thumb rule says we should take 10 mg per kilo body weight as a maintenance dose. During illness, we can increase up to 1.000 mg/day.
