overwhelmed
I have been reading all the old posts in order to get some kind of idea about this MC that I have. All the information seems overwhelming, especially the threads regarding all the vitamins and histimines (sp) that I don't understand. I have only been diagnosed for the past 3 months and feel like maybe I don't have MC as badly as it could get. However, I am still pretty afraid of food and have found that oatmeal cookies with raisins is my go to food. I am down to usually only 1 immodium a day. I am unable to take peptobismol (sp) as it causes major D problems. I read that it helps heal the intestines though, where as immodium is just a bandaid. How would a person know if their intestines are healing? I also suffer from a pelvic prolapse and boy does this MC really cause problems with that. My intestines fill up with poop and that pushes against the prolapse which then causes pain. I'm sorry if I am rambling. I am just so thankful to have found this site and to know that there are heaps of people out there with similiar problems. So thank you all and I will continue reading the older posts in the hope that I will find bits of information that I can use to help me out. I go in for a liver ultrasound next week. Apparently most of my blood work is finally reasonable but the liver part is suddenly showing up with issues. I certainly hope that I won't have to deal with anything new. Hears hoping everyone has a nice day.
Hi Vivian,
Yes this disease can seem kind of overwhelming at first, but if you just take life one day at a time early on, you will soon feel more confident as you begin to develop a better understanding of the disease. And as you understand it better, you will be able to control it better and feel better in general. I would suggest that you keep a journal in which you record all your meals, snacks, medications, supplements, etc., together with how you feel, bathroom visits, and any reactions you might have. It can be a valuable reference for tracking down problems as you go forward because some reactions occur almost immediately while others might take a day or two.
I hope that your test results next week will be OK.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Thank you
I was doing that for the first month after they figured out what was wrong with me. I used it to show the GI and also the nutritionist. Mainly cause I couldn't remember from day to day what had happened and when. They don't want to see me for 6 months and so I am pretty much on my own, unless the liver scan shows something.I am trying to introduce foods only 1 at a time, like it says on this board, but I realized the other day that I had eaten a few peanuts and something else on the same day. One of them didn't agree with me. So thanks for the reminder that a journal would still be a good idea. Have a great day.
