I am also chiming in a bit late here too. I have not tried Canyon Bakehouse bread except for their focaccia bread, which is pretty good. The Trader Joe's, which was mentioned a few times is also much better than Udi's. If anyone is in the Boston area you might try this place called, http://www.somethingsweetwithoutwheat.com They have great products.

I just happened to see this post and wanted to cast my vote for Canyon also. It is the best store bought GF bread I've tasted, think I've had the 7 grain, it has a lot of ingredients, but lo and behold not a one is on my sh*t list (pun intended!) I wanted to try their bagels, but found they have potato starch in them, which is a no-no for me. I really used to like Udi, but when had more Enterolab testing and found night shades on the list, had to give it up.
Good luck, Beverly

Linda,
I bought these at Costco (but probably can find them at Whole Foods or some place like that).......they are pretty good.

Hi Susan,
Like Jari I could not tolerate commercial GF bread until about 2 years of healing. The commercial GF breads have a lot of ingredients in them that can be problematic early on.
If you can't tolerate eggs you can make your own breads with some of the egg replacements.
Sorry I can't be more help.
PS. Elena Amsterdam's blog has some paleo bread alternative recipes.

Susan,
I thought I would elaborate. My egg score on Enterolab was an 11. Tex told me that was borderline. Early on I could not tolerate the commercial GF breads. I'm not sure it was due to the eggs but rather all of the raw ingredients in the formulas I suspect were problematic.
Now that I'm healed I can tolerate commercial GF breads. I'm not crazy about toast so a frozen loaf lasts me a long time. I probably average about 2 slices every 3 months.
Hopefully some others will chime in about the egg situation.

My Enterolab test was 56 for eggs. I still don't eat them whole or plain, but I do eat them all the time in cooked things.............bread, banana bread, cookies, etc., and have no trouble. I couldn't, however, do that until about 1 1/2 -2 years after really good healing.
Before that I used Ener-G brand Egg Replacer when I made anything myself such as the muffins or banana bread. I couldn't tell the difference when using that!

All of your experiences with GF bread are so interesting to hear! I am just starting to add in more foods (diagnosed May 2017, Gluten, dairy, soy and egg free since Enterolab done in July 2017. I have a loaf of Canyon bread in my freezer which I hope to try soon.

Thanks for your comments on when you started eating commercial free GF bread. My Enterolab egg score was 13, so not as high as yours, Jari, but enough to make me uneasy about any eggs other than duck eggs which work fine for me when I can get them.
There is a brand of GF bread that has no egg in it. Northern Lighthouse with millet and chia. I agree, it is best toasted. I very seldom eat it and will wait another six months + before I try breads with eggs baked in.

Udi’s has been hit or miss for me; generally it just makes me feel sick. I don’t eat much bread anymore (I do better with limited grain, and don’t have excessive options here anyway), but have liked Franz’s breads: https://franzbakery.com/breads/
