Very interesting.

The researchers learned that spaceflight is associated with oxygen-deprivation stress, increased inflammation and dramatic nutrient shifts that affect gene expression.

Clearly, that applies to us also. Our stress may not be due to oxygen deprivation, but that's probably irrelevant. We are/were certainly under significant stress, major inflammation, and dramatic nutrient shifts, not only due to malabsorption, but also due to diet shifts (similar to an astronaut's diet shifts. So we very likely have similar gene changes.

I thought it was assumed that the genetic changes were epigenetic.
