Great update!

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Laura,
Your posts have been so inspiring and fun to read. Your story is a true testament to how we with MC can, indeed, get our lives back, especially for those of us new or newer to the crazy world of MC. Your doctor sounds wonderful. I, too, have found a great doc in my internist, unlike my GI doc. It makes a big difference.
Thanks,
Susan

It is officially year 2 going into this new way life! If not for all of you guys, I don’t know where I would be. Thank you. I thought I would do a little update to help remind myself what all is working/not working.
I still am totally gluten free (I hope), can’t eat all things chicken, stay clear of soy but not cheese or butter and added nuts as a snack (not walnuts or peanuts). Most vegetables are okay except for onions. However, green onions work okay(?).
Still taking 5000 of D3 daily along with a B complex and antihistamine as needed. Lots of magnesium oil gets rubbed in daily and I just recently started using Dr. Dean’s ReMag lotion and love it. I use it on my face as a moisturizer every morning and before I go bed nightly. Did I say I love it.....I really do! It has made my face look renewed. Highly recommend it.
Also added a weights and conditioning class to my routine. Two times a week for 1 and 1/2 hours. I feel good about myself after a good workout.
All the dr appointments have turned out good this past year. Teeth, eyes, heart, blood...all ok.
So how come I still have bouts with WD? Only in the morning and not every time. I know, I know....... I’m not young and it’s all about the progress (not perfection). I know I have come a long from where I started!
Thanks again to all of you for being here.

I want to add a few more “note to self” items. I was interrupted yesterday when writing the 2 year recap and left out things I want to remember.
Things I have learned to avoid (the hard way): chocolate in any form, paprika, raw fruit, onions, sugar (coconut sugar is ok)
Things that surprised me that are ok in moderation: cheeses, jalapeños, green chilies, green onions, salad stuff (usually buy butter lettuce), cooked greens, beef if it’s boiled (like a pot roast or corn beef). Some restaurants around here even boil their hamburger meat for tacos.
My weight has stayed consistent over the past year. It might fluctuate 2 or 3 lbs but then goes back to what is now new normal. I had originally lost 40 lbs and put 7 of that back. Since I was over weight, that’s all ok with me. Everyone should totally replace their closet every once in awhile . I still don’t eat as often as I should because the old appetite is gone. I just forget to eat because I’m not hungry.
Have not been on but one out of town trip. Got to go back up to Albuquerque to see my favorite band again (the Mavericks). But I have been a lot more involved in local entertainment, which I’m grateful for. I haven’t had to cancel out on any planned events like I did all the time during year 1.
I once again want to thank all of you. Keep up the good fight!

Laura,
It is wonderful to hear how well you are doing. This week marks my "anniversary" of the eventful day that I got up and thought that I had eaten a bad take-out meal the night before. Although I feel comfortable with my new regimen of being gluten, casein, soy and egg free I do have to say that I have been feeling very anxious with this "anniversary" in the back of my mind. I'm not sure if it is just thinking back to how horrible it was to be that sick and not know what was causing it? Where would I have be if I hadn't found this wonderful group? Like you, I lost a lot of weight (30 lbs.) and have since gained back about 8 lbs., which is a good weight for me. I am exercising more, taking by B's and Mag (along with antihistamine) and Vit. D. All in all, life is good.
Best wishes -
Pam

Hi Pam. Thanks for your comments. I too remember exactly when mc hit me. It was New Year’s Day 2 years ago and I blamed the crab legs I had eaten the night before! A week later I ended up in the er to get fluids pumped back into me.
I have smartened up since then
