Funny Story

This is a life-altering, frustrating, disgusting, and humbling disease, but if nothing else, it teaches humility.

Funny Story

Post by kroekatoa »

I was thinking about taking a trip to the beach soon and thought I'd share a funny story that happened the last time I was near the ocean..

I live in California and my boyfriend and I were camping last summer at Big Sur... beautiful place btw. And this was when the historic Highway 1 (which is right next to the coastline) was shut down in two places due to massive landslides that happened after we got so much rain. There was about an 8 mile stretch of the highway that was closed in both directions unless you took a windy military back road from the foothills that would pop you out right in the middle of this stretch.

Because this section was closed, there was almost NO ONE else camping in the same area.. hardly any cars anywhere. You could literally stand in the center of one of the busiest highways and not see a car for a half hour. All the trails had been overgrown for months, but my boyfriend and I still decided to pull over on the highway and go deep into the bushes (with ticks!) and take tons of pictures in front the ocean. It was so beautiful.

When we got back to the car I realized I didn't have my phone on me. I knew I hadn't left it in the car because I had just used it to take pictures. I instantly panicked because I knew there was no way in hell I was going to find my phone in the bushes, and there was no signal so I wouldn't even be able to call it.

The stress of losing my phone and all those pretty moments/pictures INSTANTLY made me have to have diarrhea, bad! And I had just had a BM maybe two hours before this. My boyfriend decided to go back into the brush and look for my phone, and I was looking around the side of the road when I couldn't hold it in any longer. I literally popped a squat on the side of highway 1 and let it rip RIGHT as the ONE car I'd seen in the l last hour drove by. Thank goodness I had Starbucks napkins in my pocket.

Long story short... I stress-pooped on the side of the road and someone probably saw me. My boyfriend was able to miraculously find my phone- it must have magically fallen out of my pocket and was still visible in the last place I had used it, which was to take a picture of a tick that had landed on his jacket. We got tons of ticks all over the inside of my car. Luckily neither of us has Lyme disease yet lol. And I still have all my precious pictures!

Cheers,

Sarah

Sarah,
I laughed over your story, yes because it was very funny and also because it could happen to any one of us! Thanks so much for sharing. Our shared stories help make MC a life very much worth living.

I remember reading about Highway 1. I'll bet that area is beautiful. We were just in CA visiting a daughter and her family, north of SF just north of Fairfax. It was such to delight to see a lush CA after the winter rains. My prior trips had been in the summer when it was brown. We had such a good time.

Great pictures!

Yes I can totally relate to having a 'stress poop situation'...they are not fun and my husband learned the hard way to not rush me to go somewhere before I was ready! Luckily I live in a rural area in Wa State.

Beautiful pictures, Sarah! And no worries, you were never going to see that person again!
