Shadybrook Farms Turkey
Hello. I learned on this site that rosemary extract is derived from soy so I stopped eating ground turkey breast. I recently purchased Shadybrook Farms turkey breast chops without thinking that the turkey broth could contain soy. I called their 800 number today and the customer service rep said that the broth does not contain soy. I pressed her and I asked again if the turkey broth didn't contain soy. She replied, "the broth is made from soybeans but the allergen is removed so it does not contain soy." Is that possible? She said if the broth contained an allergen they would have to list it on the packaging. I know that isn't true because many times soy isn't listed as soy on labels. I don't think I react to soy but it was high when I had EnteroLab testing done a few years ago so I avoid it.

Hi Marcia,
They all claim that all of the protein in soy-based ingredients has been removed by the manufacturing process. Unfortunately though, there's no such thing as a perfect separation process, so the final product often contains traces of soy. The amounts are negligible according to specifications on separation tolerances, but they are not always negligible as far as allergies are concerned. Whether or not an individual reacts often depends on their personal level of sensitivity. IOW, it may or may not be a problem for any particular individual.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
