Things are still working along rather well....with family an all.
I want to add that the addition of S. Boulardii, the HCL Betaine at meals and the teaspoon of Nano Silver a day does a body good
As long as I keep any extra stress at a minimal and stay true to my safe foods I can say I've finally hit a decent plateau for once in this long journey of MC healing.

How to tell when silent gluten is interferring
I call it Silent Gluten because knowing we all can't get away from it 100% I'm questioning whether I need to be worried or not at this point.
Due to other factors that can trigger flares: Stress, Fiber, Sugar, Hormones (as the top ones) when would one know when it's really gluten that has built up and then backed off and built up again and backed off...
I am curious if I need to really keep my kitchen pans, an utensils separate from my husbands, or if I need to use our portable dishwasher more often instead of always hand washing the dishes.
I don't use regular flour in the kitchen at all...but there are other ways from bread crumbs on the counter and the wash rag on the kitchen sink that I question.
THIS IS A BIT OFF TOPIC.....
I just had another melt down last night after attending my 1/2 brothers 50th birthday get together in which I knew I wouldn't be able to eat anything there so I ate ahead of time. That did not fix the mental/emotional aspect that hit me afterwards.....had to endure the host ask another guest just enough out of range that she didn't think I heard her why I wasn't eating, and then the guest explaining that I had a strict diet I had to be on. Later another guest teased about me not taking a birthday shot of a whiskey that was being passed around and I had to explain that I had Lymphocitic Colitis and couldn't have gluten, dairy, or soy and that Malt, Barley, Oat and Rye were something I can't partake in. The guest had a look on his face like oh, that was more info than I can absorb right now, and didn't push the teasing any further. The last and final straw was coming from the restroom and the hosts' friend encouraged me to have some 7 layer dip which I had to once more say my reasons for not being able to.....by the time I got home 4.5 hours later my mind was a wreak and I really wanted to partake in the bbq but outings aren't that fun when you have to explain your reasons numerous times and bring everything you can eat in order to fit in. I get so tired lately of not feeling normal in a social aspect.

Hi Erica. I know what you mean when trying to figure out how much control do you need to have over your own space. I never went all out and threw all pots, pans and utensils away when I did my initial “clean” up when I first realized my world had changed. Just food products is all that got tossed. I don’t know the answer to your question, but wish I did. I do know that no gluten is entering my space, but don’t know if there are remnants.
Sorry about the bbq experience. It’s a bitch when folks can’t just leave it alone. Been there. I am running into that more often lately because i’m trying to have a social life after being house bound for so long. No one said this was going to be easy !

I appreciate your take on the control of our space...I've just been pondering this lately so if anyone has seen results based on how 'clean' their food environment is and whether they notice any difference based on usage of cross contaminated items (especially since I am not Celiac) I'd be curious to hear their story.
Also thank you for putting a smile on my face regarding my bbq experience....I don't want to sound like a broken record or get pity from anyone, but dang I also don't like being so different that I can't fit in like I used to. This is going to be tougher until more people become accustomed to where I'm coming from. I'm hoping the Bunco group I'm going to have a meeting with this coming Friday is a hit and something I can say it once and everyone will be on board about it so I can enjoy it without having to explain myself every time.

I have a question. You recently posted about eating a little protein throughout the day and one of the foods you carry is turkey jerky. I'm really interested in trying that and I'm wondering what brand you buy? I ask because package that I've seen has soy. If you don't mind sharing, I'd like to know.

Hi Diana,
It’s called All Natural Original Beef Jerky, I find it in the gluten free area of the cereal aisle in Walmart. I’m sure other stores carry it. I haven’t found a turkey type that doesn’t have teriyaki and soy.

Well I have made it into the Hottest part of the Summer season and I am finally having to take an antihistamine morning and night (I suppose that is better than having to take it 365 days out of the year)
Summer heat is not a time to venture off the safe food beaten path that is for sure! I tried to have some harmless Mojito Mango/Nectarine wine big mistake.....not only did I end up on the pot a few times that night, I got an awesome charlie horse cramp in my calf midway thru the night! Then the next two days I had the pleasure of nursing a mini-migraine and dousing it with magnesium lotion all over the face and taking some tablets internally!
Oh the joys of this evil dis-ease!

I was doing fine for a few days. Life was good!!! I took advantage of my my relief and ate two small boxes of raisins. I blew up in the bathroom. My Word, I got so sick. It has taken days for me to recover. I love raisins but they don't like me. Then the depression seeps in and I feel like crying. This disease has reduced me to a wee baby. I'd be careful. If I eat a few, I may get lucky with raisins, but two small boxes sent me spinning. I've tried dried cranberries and I think I had the same problem. Boy, this is a complicated disease. there are a few reasons why dried fruit are not the best option in the early stages of healing
- they are high histamine
- they are too fibrous
- the sugar
- citric acid etc
please please try to stick with well cooked proteins and 2-3 safe veges....
this disease doesnt have to be complicated, it can be way less complicated if you stick to the eating plan we suggest.

Being a diabetic puts a monkey wrench in the process. Last night I experienced a diabetic low. I had to take care of it. Going down fast. I had an eight ounce glass of Apple Cider to bring my blood sugar up to normal limits. Sick again - bad sick and now I feel wrung out. Beaten up. I chew glucose tablets but I'd rather drink to bring my blood sugar up. The tablets are for traveling in the car and they cause cavatites. Sweet drink is not as bad. Orange juice is what we used in the hospital, but I can't drink that. I avoid anything acidic. I thought Apple Cider was safe but guess not. Is it acidic? I thought not.
Can I drink Gatorade or Kool Aid? Can you help me? I have a problem going dangerously low with my blood sugar and we have to call EMS for emergency help. Gets expensive. I like to drink because with diarrhea, we become dehydrated much of the time. We need to increase our fluid intake.
Could any diabetics on board help me? What do diabetics drink for a diabetic low that won't give them the "D?" Thanks Gabes. Dorothy

I think part of my problem is talking to Wayne and Dr. Fine. I get two different views on this disease that confuse me. I have read two/three books on "SPECIFIC CARBOHYDRATE DIETS" per Dr. Fine's instructions and that has confused me. Each book is different and conflicts with the other carbohydrate diet books. Then I am lost in the woods. I was told not to eat squash and zucchini. Dr. Fine did not explain why. My vegetables are well-cooked and I try to follow a strict diet and be good. Can you explain what is toxic about well-cooked squash and zucchini? You've helped me so much Gabes!!!!!!

there is nothing 'toxic' about squash and zucchini
there are intricate aspects to all foods that there will be a reason why one person will say to avoid them.
my advice -
right now you can not do everything perfectly 100% of the time.
given the diabetic status and the MC - your main aim now is to have regular low inflammation meals /snacks
this will limit the need for rehydration drinks.
to confirm which vegetables are your safest - avoid other known triggers (alcohol, dried fruits etc) and do 3-4 days of the same 2-3vegetables with your cooked proteins. if after 4 days you are still having gut issues, one of the vegetables is not ideal for you so remove them one at a time.
do not sway from the basics of the eating plan while doing this.
hydration /diabetes - snack on well cooked proteins and some sort of safe carb that will sustain your energy for a couple of hours
drink wise - apple juice would be lowest risk option, increase water intake
dont have commercial rehydration drinks as they have additives that are not ideal for MC
there is a hydration formula here
3. You can make an inexpensive homemade rehydration drink. Measure all ingredients precisely. Small variations can make the drink less effective or even harmful. Mix together:
1 quart (950 ml) water
½ teaspoon (2.5 g) baking soda
½ teaspoon (2.5 g) table salt
3 to 4 tablespoons (45 to 60 g) sugar
If available, add ¼ teaspoon (1.25 g) salt substitute, such as "Lite Salt".
