bladder infection

Post by vivian »

I was recently taken off Uceris and put on generic budesidite (sp). The Uceris flyer indicates that most of the medicine doesn't go thru the bladder. However, that apparently isn't the case with the generic version. I am having symtoms of a bladder infection, but I don't actually have one. At one time I was diagnosed with IC but haven't had any problems in years. Usually the only time I have had an issue is when I eat citrus foods. I was wondering if anyone else has had this type of side effect. Thanks for your responses. Vivian

Hi Vivian,

For me (and apparently for many others), when MC is active it can cause symptoms that mimic IC. Also, I had the symptoms when I had a magnesium deficiency, and other members have confirmed this to be true for them.

Here are a few past threads where the topic is discussed, for example:

Bladder issues. Again

Vesicare and LC

Not sure what to do....

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Thanks for the links to other posts. It is truly interesting that so many other places in the body can be affected. It is reassuring that other people have also felt IC and associated it with MC, I hadn't had IC for years and have given up all items that have Vit. C in them so as not to have it come back. Now I guess other things are affecting my bladder. On a plus side I have been able to add Acorn Squash to my diet. Vivian

Hi Vivian, In the months right after I was diagnosed, I often felt as it I was getting a bladder infection. One of the members on the board recommended that I take D-Mannose. I take it once a day when I have that feeling and it is wonderful. The person who recommended it (Brandy I think) said that when you have inflammation it can make you feel that urgency but as you heal, you won’t need to take it daily. I think I got it through Amazon.

I hope you feel better!
