Cholestyramine versus good cholesterol

Post by SJH »

Hi newbie here. I am totally thankful for this website.

I have excellent levels for my cholesterol (bad is low and good is high). Will taking cholestyramime for my diarrhea take my levels too low?

At this point I trust the opinion of the people on this site more than my doctors.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to the group. Cholestyramine will probably reduce your cholesterol level, but probably not by an an excessive amount. For the sake of your general health (and your ability to absorb nutrients from your food), it's best to stop the diarrhea as quickly as you are able, and then worry about other health details after your MC is in stable remission.

Again, welcome aboard, and please feel free to ask anything.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
