Restora probiotic - any experience

Post by cdrisc »

Hello all!

I'm managing a flare right now with budesonide. "Managing" is the key word there... it's not bad, but it's not right.

Just got a sample of Restora from my GI, and wondering if anyone has any experience:

https://shop.uspco.com/products/restora ... 0-capsules

The backstory is that I've been having chronic sinus infections and nasty headaches for the past couple years. I've been seeing an ENT, and she's done a scan of my sinuses, cultured them, and recommended surgery do to some major "structural" issues in my sinuses. I'll eventually do the surgery... just switched jobs, so I'll have to wait a bit. But for a few months my ENT had to manage my sinus infections with antibiotics - that's what aggravated the MC. I'm off now, thankfully, and hopefully I can manage without antibiotics until surgery (note: I knew that the antibiotics were risky, but the sinus infections and headaches were that bad).

So... just got back from GI, and he's checking on C. diff and continuing the budesonide for a bit.

I don't have expectations that Restora will have a huge impact, but just curious if you all have some feedback.

Thanks!
Chris

if you do a search and look at previous discussions about probiotics here is a long story short summary of what we have observed

-probiotics are not beneficial when in flare /inflammed
-many strains of probiotics are high histamine so for MC'ers this causes extra inflammation rather than benefit
-the main reason to take probiotics is to boost beneficial bacteria in the gut, the body will only benefit from this if there is minimal inflammation so that the good bacteria can 'stay' if you are having a flare and D then the good bacteria cant stay, so you are basically not getting any benefit
- with the right environment (food, lifestyle etc) the body will produce (and keep) good bacteria by itself. there is more benefit focussing on sorting out your safe eating plan, avoiding inflammation triggers and making lifestyle adjustments etc that allows the body to heal

once there is minimal symptoms/remission type state and no excess histamine/mast cell issues then yes some members have benefited from good quality probiotics

thank you! All the talk I hear about probiotics, but stayed away from them.

Hi Chris,

Just my two cents worth here.....

VitD3
Magnesium
Nano Silver
Saccharomyces Boulardii

Are you getting the right balance of the first two listed? Magnesium plays a huge part in head aches I've learned (being a cyclic monthly migrainer) and without enough VitD3 it doesn't do its job well if at all for us.

If you have been doing pretty good but can't seem to shake infections of the sinus I'll bet Nano Silver ( rxsilver.com ) could be a missing link to getting rid of that bacteria for you slowly but methodically, and the addition of Saccaromyces Boulardii is a great Good bacteria replacer as you are removing the bad bacteria with the sliver. Silver can only steal the electron from a bad bacteria because there is a protective layer on the good bacteria, hence why I've been such a staunch ally of this protocol because I am not a fan of repeat antibiotics.

I've had terrible sinus infections in the past and they led to upper respiratory issues at times....I suspect I had histamine situations going on as well. I can say that after starting on the maintenance dose of 1 teaspoon of silver every morning since the beginning of April I have had a really good Spring with no sinus colds, only a really bad case of Norovirus that my husband and I caught from our grandson, and we're able to remedy it within 2 days after taking 2 tsp 3 times a day of the silver (it really kicked its butt). Silver works to remove, Virus, Fungus, Mold, Candida Yeast, and bad bacteria in general.

This will also get C Diff in check if you have it also....I hope you can stay away from surgery.

Cheers
Erica
