Hi Mamafill,
I have never used entocort.....I worked at healing my gut with out any medications when I began my journey.
My migraines began when I was 16 and I am 50 now....and have been practically free of them for the last 2 years now that my body has had sufficient time absorbing magnesium and getting higher levels of VitD (I talk about these two as a pair because they work in tandem) and healing at the same time.
I would imagine that any steroid would/could affect a head ache and prolong it especially if low magnesium is an issue.
There is specific Magnesium for internal and external use. I use KAL Glycinate Magnesium (and Drs Best is good also) for Internal use. I use Remag lotion and Epsom salt soaks for External use. When my stools are super loose or basically water I will back off the internal magnesium and begin a good external regimen of it so that I keep getting magnesium just not inside my intestines. The magnesium recommended at this forum Glycinate does not give you water D but if your body is already having issues why keep compounding them with magnesium internally....

Corticosteroids do indeed rise blood pressure. And they also deplete magnesium. A magnesium deficiency causes high blood pressure, so this may be at least part of the reason why corticosteroids cause hypertension. Erica is right on the money — magnesium lowers blood pressure and treats migraines.MamaFill wrote:Among other things, it raised my blood pressure dramatically (it was under control with medication) and brought back my daily vascular migraines. I'm not sure if those were from the steroid or my blood pressure but headaches are a side effect of entocort.
MamaFill wrote:And thanks, Tex. I'm going to get the ingredients separately so I can avoid the citrate/oxide. On a side note - are you handling this heat ok?
I'm getting by as long as I don't have to do any outside work during the main part of the day, but this kind of heat makes it pretty tough on old codgers like me. It wouldn't be so bad if it knew when to quit, but it just goes on, and on, and on, like the energizer bunny. I hope it's not too bad in your part of Texas, but I'm sure it's bad enough.
Your GI was being generous with that estimate — that test will only catch about 75 % of the people who have fully-developed celiac disease. It often takes years for celiac disease to fully develop. The test won't detect anyone who's celiac status is not fully-developed, and it won't detect any non-celiac gluten sensitivity cases (which includes most of us). Best estimates show that the celiac test misses around 95 % of celiacs, and 100 % of non-celiac gluten sensitivity cases. Doctors desperately need a decent way to test for gluten sensitivity.MamaFill wrote:Im going to go ahead and get the book. I don't want to wait. I am also thinking about the lab testing. (I did test negative for celiacs). Interesting tidbit - my GI said the blood test is only 75% accurate.

A good article about viability of celiac test.

Again, thank you all for the great information. I feel like I'm not completely lost anymore and have a path forward thanks to all of you. It's stills overwhelming, but better than not having any information!
I will definitely add the external magnesium.
And Tex, this heat is about to do me in. I'm in the DFW area. It was 108 yesterday. I'm not going to look at today's temp.
Also, thanks for the newbie info you have in another link Gabes. Especially the meal plans as I didn't know what the heck I was going to eat!

It hasn't hit 108 here yet, but it'll be close again today, and the forecast doesn't look good. It shows increasing temps every day for a few more days. It seems ridiculous to be wishing for a return to the high nineties.MamaFill wrote:And Tex, this heat is about to do me in. I'm in the DFW area. It was 108 yesterday.
