Soom Good News for a Change
Just wanted to report that for the last 4 days I have felt more like myself than I have since February. I have had 1 day here and there of energy in the past but this is 4 in a row so I am very encouraged that I have turned a corner. Still struggling with C. I get 1 or 2 days of something halfway resembling normal and then go back to pebbles or nothing again. But even with that, I FEEL much better. I don't think I have been getting as much coconut oil lately so will step that up and more liquids. Also I have gained 4 lbs in the last 2 wks. Up to 115. I'm 5'7" so that's still awfully skinny but at least I'm starting to gain. Thanks again to all of you and all your advice and encouragement.

That sounds like a good plan. This probably won't happen, but if the situation should switch from C to D, try an OTC antihistamine each day to see if that will stabilize things.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Thanks for that suggestion. Just maybe like Claritin would work?
As luck would have it, not long after I posted this "good news" report, my phone rang. It was Dr.'s office. I had taken 5 days of Macrobid for the Klebsiella pneumoniae . It did a recheck and it looked suspicious so they cultured it. Sure enough, I still have over 100,000 units. So now I have to do another 5 days of the Macrobid. I HATE that. I was so glad to get off of it. But I guess I have no choice. I really wasn't surprised because I am gettin up every 3 hrs at night to pee and I use to get by with maybe once around 3:00 am. Other than having to go a lot, I'm really not having any other symptoms. So guess I'll go pick up the prescription.

Bummer on the antibiotic. The bacteria may be Macrobid-resistant.
Claritin might work. For some reason or other, most people seem to have better luck with Allegra or Zyrtec in the morning and then some add Benedryl at bedtime if they need something extra.
