Gluten Ease
I have been GF for 9 years, had two years of really stressful events, & then 4 months of MC symptoms of MC before the diagnosis of LC. After 4 months of Budesonine (reducing from 9 mg to 3) & strict diet of fruit=bananas, vegetables = well (or in my opinion, over cooked), no dairy, no soy, continuing with gf, no salads, nuts, oats etc, & following the suggestions of stool sample testing (sorry forgot name of Texas co), I've had a flare up. It was after a weekend of stress with death of friend, and limited available food. I used "Gluten Ease" hoping it would help. Now have had 1 1/2 weeks of a BRAT diet (bananas, rice, applesauce & tea) & still intestinal cramping, fatigue, and weakness. Food doesn't even sound good to this food lover & cook. I leave in 10 days for my bucket list cruise with an overdue vacation with my husband. Any suggestions on what to do to get this under control in the next 10 days?

Sadly I don't think that brat is best option for flares, as there is no animal protein. The gut needs the nutritional benefit of animal protein to heal!!!
To alleviate symptoms in Short term - Imodium might be best option.
Or stronger meds like budenside. Or cholestramine.
Long term fix. are you taking Vit D3 and magnesium?

Hi Marcia,
Sorry you got zapped. I agree with Gabes and Karen. You will need to take a full dose of budesonide for a while in order to kick the relapse to the curb in the relatively short time period that you have available before the cruise. If a lesser dose of budesonide has ever worked in a similar situation, I'm not aware of it. The diet by itself would probably work eventually (whatever diet you used to achieve remission in the first place), but that could take months (weeks at best), and you don't have the luxury of that much time. If you want to enjoy the cruise (rather than sit in the bathroom most of the time), budesonide (starting with the full dose, and then reducing it at the first signs of constipation) is your best option (in my opinion).
Best of luck to you.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
