cholestyramine

Post by paddywest »

I have had microscopic for six years and have been on Entocort off and on over those years. I hate how it makes me very hungry and bloated. I recently started seeing a new doctor and he has put me on cholestyramine. I have only taken it two nights and both nights I have been so nauseated and have a burning sensation above my belly button. I so wanted this medication to work as I have read on this forum how it has been successful with so many others. Will this feeling of nausea and burning go away???

HI Paddywest,

I asked the same question a few weeks ago. It makes me so sick that I feel like I am going to throw up. I am seeing my gastro on Thursday and I am going to talk to him about it. I know your post is from last year, I Hope you are still an active member.

CHOLESTYRAMINE

Post by EUROPEU »

Hi Paddy,

Cholestiramine made miracles for me one year ago, but I never felt sick when I took it. Now I am free of simptoms and only take it in my travels. How much do you take? I used to take 0.5 grams in the morning, half an hour before breakfast and that worked for me.I think that with Cholestiramine to find the right dossage is the secret for success.

Best for you

Hi. The dose I have settled on is 1/2 pouch. Mixed w cup water, then more water. Usually late am or mid afternoon. Can't take too near meds, especially. But not too near a meal or digestion slows .
I really feel it helps me.
Hang in.

thank you both for your answers. I take a full pouch in the morning and another one in the evening. My stomach can't handle it. I am going to ask my
gastro to reduce the dosage. I hope it helps me like it has for the both of you. Thank you for replying to me.
