Coconut Oil - All good except for this one thing.......
I've been reading up on all the benefits of coconut oil. I'm still using it and even taking a supplement and I think it has helped with my very dry skin. However I have been disappointed to keep reading that it helps with weight loss due to the fact that it speeds up metabolism. That's the last thing I need! I am desperately trying to put on 20 lbs. What can I do about this dilemma?

Kathy,
When reading on the net, please use discernment.
Coconut oil may help with weight loss. It does not CAUSE weight loss..
Like anything in MC world if an item provides more benefit than a minimal possible risk, stop reading and overthinking and go with it.

I lost a lot of weight from the MC. I used coconut oil throughout. I have been in remission for a good year plus using the suggested eating plan. I looked pretty thin but now I am putting on weight since I am in remission. 12 pounds and counting. Pretty soon I will have to adjust what I am eating so I don't gain too much.
Stop reading too much and just go with the flow. I had to stop reading all the news and info out there. I just kinda relied on this sight. Or it can make you too stressed which isn't good for the gut.

Same here, weight and height. Using Monolaurin, derived from coconut as the nutritionist/chiro thinks something else is off. Despite having very little D, still losing. I cut the Monolaurin in half as I had incontinence issues from the die off effect. It's anti viral, anti biotic. antimicrobal. Maybe yeast, EBV which I was dx with 20 years ago, I don't know. Other supplements, Pyloricil for H Pylori, of course the Thorne Methly guard, ADEK, which is as stated Vit A, D3, E and K1 and K2, also IPS for gut functions and intestinal integrity and gut permeability. I don't know, too soon to tell.grannykathy wrote:Janie
Thanks Janie. I hearing that. I just hate being this skinny. I'm 5'7" and 112 right now. I gained up to 114 at one point but for some reason lost those 2 lbs. But good to hear that you were able to gain your weight back and that you did it while using the coconut oil.
I was 150 last summer
I agree with Gabes and Janie completely...my first 2 years were all about healing the gut and I lost weight and I am 5'9". I weighed 133 and now I am back up to 144....I believe once the gut gets healed and happy it doesn't take long for it to start adding muscle and perhaps a fat pound or two at some point....I know I am right where I want to be. In fact I need to buy different pants because I have gone from a 6 to an 8/10 with no visible extra weight so I am thinking it is muscle again which I felt like I lost 3 years ago...it made me feel so weak and terrible back then.
