Was wondering how many people with MC take any type of medication for adhd for example adderall? It is a stimulant and was wondering if it makes my MC worse.
Thanks, Kristen

Hi Kristen,
I have no experience with that medication (or adhd), but because that particular drug is a stimulant, it will surely promote peristalsis and act as a laxative. I don't know if there is any verified evidence that it will raise the risk of activating MC (by increasing inflammation), but it will almost surely increase the number of trips you make to the bathroom each day. An Antispasmodic, such as hyoscyamine might help, or plain old Imodium might be a safer (kinder and gentler — that is, less side effects) choice. If you're not having any problems with multiple daily trips to the bathroom, then obviously you shouldn't need anything to counteract the stimulation and slow down motility.
I hope this is helpful.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Re: adhd medication
I’d advise against taking adderal! Not because of MC, but because imo this is not the way to treat ADHD. Of course there is a big chance adderal will aggravate the MC symptoms since it is a stimulant.Kristen wrote:Was wondering how many people with MC take any type of medication for adhd for example adderall? It’s better to treat ADHD with the following: actieve B complex (with P-5-P), Zinc, Magnesium, Vitamin C, D3 and balanced meals rich in protein at fixed times (!) This is not different for what we need for our MC diets.
You might want to add a good quality lion’s mane mushroom (or reishi mushroom) supplement. You should look into it. If you decide to try it, give it some time and don’t just try any brand, most of them are useless. Real Mushrooms is a good quality brand.
