Thanks Erica. I'm so confused. So the broth from what I'm cooking now will not be consumable bone broth?

Also, it is a 2 pound breast.

You wont be able to eat the meat on the turkey if you are boiling it in water, it will waste the meat away and be flavorless. You want to cook the meat on the bone first (preferable in an oven or minimal water in the crockpot)

Then remove the nice tender meat from the bone once it is done cooking.

Then put those left over bones and cartilage back into the cleared out crockpot filled with water and start the bone broth process.

Most turkeys I have ever cooked with Bone-in have not been less than 10-12 pound turkeys.

Now I'm confused as to how you have a bone-in turkey and it is only 2 pounds :didimiss:

Lol, With out BONE you can not make Bone Broth

If you haven't cooked it very long you might be able to pat it dry and move it to a hot oven and cook it off for some nice meat

When you get another bird...get the whole bird and we'll start this process over again

The breast is bone-in. Can I still cook those bones afterward for broth?

Yes, but the amount of protein amino acids is based off of perhaps more than a single bone, it really helps to have the joints, cartilage, and bone to make it. Give it a try though with a smaller amount of water like 1/2 gallon to 1 gallon of water and simmer it for the alloted 4-5 hours and give it a bit of sea salt to your desired taste, basically so that you will actually use it or sip on it.

Make a mini soup out of it....I use Tikiyada noodles with carrot and celery....and I add some of the meat I baked off back into it....makes a nice turkey noodle soup.

If you do decide to make a soup once you are done with the cook off of the bone....

Put the hot broth back into a soup pot and add the vegetables and simmer with lid ajar so you don't let the water steam out (soft boil low/med heat) until the veges are soft and then add the gluten free noodles.

Ok, so in the future I should cook a whole bird, remove the meat, then cook the bone broth?

Hi Monique,
I have been adding collagen peptides to my nightly protein ice cream for 3-4 months and have noticed growth in both my hair and nails. My skin feels pretty good too!

Hello everyone,
Very interesting subject. Whenever I buy a rotisserie chicken I make bone broth with celery, carrots, onions, and fresh seasonings, then strain and freeze for soup. I don't make soup that often, just in the winter so I am not getting the collagen needed. Although, I do just like sipping a cup of broth. How effective would that be and how often should I drink, say a cup?

Also, Monique, what brand of collagen to you buy?
