Emily's Dr. Lubin Appt
Hey guys,
We are leaving tomorrow for Buffalo. Recap on Dr. Lubin appointment.
Said she should not be having the stomach ache's that she's having, if she did the gluten free for four months. Wants her to have her thyroid checked for Graves Disease as sometimes symptoms can be similar. He also wants her to do the Barium x-ray to rule out Chrons.
E-mailed Dr. Fine and asked him if we needed this test because her test came back low intestinal damage. He replied yes because she had an elavated yeast which is sometimes suspect.
Emily was hystrical yesterday. She's sick of tests and diets. She wants to take drugs to help. She said it's not hard being off gluten and dairy, but absoultley no soy and corn and sugar and rice is driving her crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!
I may have to give into the drugs until she can be committed on her own. I'm physically sick with worry and need some anti-depressants.
I'll check messages one more time before I leave.

Oh Roni, I'm SO SORRY to read this... As I've mentioned previously, I cannot imagine the troubles of adolescence magnified by THIS sort of thing. I mean, on one hand, it's going to make her a stronger person, a person who is aware that life is about more than just how high you can make your hair and whether or not you are wearing what the popular girls are wearing, but on the other hand, it'd be nice to think she could be a "little girl" and do girl things like pigging out on pizza at the mall after a movie or something.. Poor Emily :( I guess the only thing I can offer is maybe to tell her that you're getting closer, with each test, with each thing you eliminate from her diet, you're getting closer to her being healthy again.. even if something you do doesn't work, at least you've ruled it out and can move on..
I know, it's of little comfort.. does she ever get on here to read from all of us? It might help her relate if she gets on the net herself and talks.. voices some of her concerns and opinions.. feels validated for all of her feelings right now.. Or doesn't she express any interest in that? When I was her age, I was on the computer nonstop..

Roni,
I can just imagine how you felt/feel. I can also understand Emily's feelings. I doubt I would have tolerated those problems very well when I was her age.
I do hope she will be tolerant enough to get the test done. They do need to rule out any other problems that she might have.
I'll be thinking of you both.
Love, Shirley

Hi Roni
I am so very sorry for all you are going through. Easier to be sick yourself than to watch your child suffer. Sounds like you need to take care of you to get more energy to care care of Emily. Maybe some lexapro would be a good thing for you. Could take the edge off. Good luck with the Buffalo trip. Will be sending you lots of loving healing light. Love & light, Rita

Roni,
I so wish he had an answer for her. Meds might not be a bad way to go to give her a chance to feel how feeling good feels.
Just thinking about Mars post to Christine above about endometriosis pain. You haven't described to us exactly what stomach area Emily feels worst in (Or if you have, I missed it or forgot ). If its pelvic area, a consult with a gyn might be a good idea. Through all this is her cycle normal? I can't imagine it would be because of the stress of being sick, but thats just coming from my mind of having messed up hormones myself.
This is totally thinking off the top of my head, so ignor it if its not useful.

A hiatal hernia presents in the same manner (for me at least it does). Is that pressent in Emily?
Good luck on your trip to Buffalo. I hope you are able to get some answers, for both of your sake.

Isn't upper abdomen associated with gall bladder too?
I saw a think on tv once about pet massage, and they suggested for digestive therapy, to rub clockwise circles on the belly. Well, ya know what? It works! I rub my own belly if I feel I have a burp or fart that won't come out (which really makes me feel yucky) and it helps move it on out. Maybe a little post dinner massage is what she needs...I don't rub hard at all, very gently in fact. Sounds like maybe she is doing that to an extent anyway.
Well, gotta run to work.
