Massage Oil

Post by Marcia K »

Hello. I went for a massage yesterday which was wonderful! Today my stomach was burning and I'm thinking it was from the oil that she used. I didn't think to ask her beforehand what she was going to use. Any suggestions for the next time? I am trying to go once a month but I don't want to feel badly the next day. Thanks,
Marcia

Marcia,

I just had a massage this evening. We use Young Living essential oils and I’ve never had a problem. Hope you feel better.

Love,

You mean the skin on the outside of your stomach or burning inside your stomach? If it's the outside, one might wonder why there would be a skin reaction on the stomach but nowhere else. I haven't had a massage in 20 years, but don't remember the stomach being the target of much massaging.

I do recall one massage therapist using peanut oil. Some people are allergic to peanuts. But, again, such a localized reaction seems strange. Maybe it was something on a sheet or towel.

In any event, I'm VERY, VERY JEALOUS of all these massages.

Thank you, Connie. I am feeling better today.

Thanks, Gabes, I was thinking coconut oil would be good. I think I'll take my own the next time.

Kilt, the burning was internal. I should have been more clear on that. I was only going for a massage annually when I received a gift certificate for Christmas, but I'm now trying to go once a month if I can. A friend told me that she treats herself to a massage each month and I'm trying to do the same because it makes me feel so much better!

I would second Gabe's coconut oil suggestion. I use that for everything including a face moisturizer. It felt heavy at first but I learned to love it and my skin really loves it too. A little essential oil could be mixed in for interest. Deb

Thanks, Deb. I'm going to call my massage therapist before I go next month to see if I should bring my own.
