Buspirone and LC

My Dr. recently prescribed me Buspirone after dealing with a bout of anxiety, something I have battled off and on for the last 12 years. I took this med several years ago in 2006 when a stressful job brought about panic attacks and major problems with anxiety. I took the medication for about 5-6 years. I then had kids and took a break from the medication and was diagnosed with LC in 2012. Although my anxiety is better I feel like the Lymphocytic colitis may be worse. Is there any information on this medication with LC? Thank you!

Why don't you take magnesium, instead? Anxiety is a symptom of a chronic magnesium deficiency. Many/most MC patients have a chronic magnesium deficiency that they've had all their life. Been there, done that, and I can tell you from my own experience that resolving your magnesium deficiency will stop the anxiety symptoms and panic attacks. Doctors never recognize a chronic magnesium deficiency. We have to figure it out for ourselves or it will remain a lifelong problem.

Hmmm...that is interesting as I have been having more problems with the D waking me up at night since starting the medication again. How much and what kind of magnesium? The anxiety actually started after I was diagnosed with a B12 deficiency.

A B-12 deficiency can also cause anxiety symptoms. That's easy to fix. 2,000–5,000 IU of methylcobalamin per day should correct any B-12 deficiency almost immediately. You probably have a B-12 deficiency in addition to a magnesium deficiency because you have to have malabsorption for several years in order to run out of B-12 (unless you are a vegetarian or vegan). Magnesium, by comparison, becomes depleted relatively quickly. Correcting a magnesium deficiency is a little more difficult. 300–400 mg per day of magnesium glycinate should do the trick. Divide the dose up with meals. Read the dosing information on both the front and back of the container to make sure you are getting the right dose. Most magnesium glycinate shows twice as much on the front label as each tablet actually contains. Doctors Best brand, for example, shows 200 mg on the front. But each tablet only contains 100 mg.

If you are afraid of taking oral magnesium, use topical magnesium. But be aware that you have to use a lot of Magnesium oil or lotion in order to absorb enough into your skin.

I think I need Magnesium But Had Diarrhea With It

I don't really know for sure if the magnesium made diarrhea so bad
since it was pre-diagnosis of MC. I have a ton of 120 mg capsules but
was started at 4 per day, then reduced to 2 per day then one.

Should I try it again? Would it help with the constipation from budesonide?

If I were trying to treat constipation (only), I would take magnesium oxide (milk of magnesia). If I were trying to treat constipation (and anxiety), I would take magnesium citrate. If I were trying to treat anxiety, and I wanted to minimize the risk of diarrhea, I would take magnesium glycinate.
