Hi,
I realize that CBD oil has been known to help many disease states/ illnesses and research has proven the positive effects-- anecdotally, it seems that the results vary quite widely, which is probably due to the various brands/ mixes.
Recently I had a discussion with my nutritionist about the well-researched positive effects for IBD and other gut issues. I'd be interested to hear of anyone's experiences for MC and which, if any, brands have been the most effective.
Thank you!

Hi Jacqueline
I haven't had any experience with it, but it seems to be most beneficial for MC patients regarding pain control. Have you seen the article on CBD oil in the last issue of the Microscopic Colitis Foundation's newsletter?
Here's a link where you can download or read a PDF copy of the newsletter:

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Hi jnmast.
I will chime in here.
I’m in Canada. CBD in multiple forms ( oil, vaping, edibles, etc) are widely available. I tried it myself in the form of CBD in a Maple syrup tincture that you put under the tongue in drops. It certainly does seem to have a reasonably good effect for ‘calming’ an active flare. I have used it mainly at night, to relieve an active colon so that I could sleep. You sleep beautifully with it. I’ve never used it during the day though. At this point, I tend to view it a bit like a harmless sedative and pain killer. Here in Ontario, Queen’s University has been given a mandate and funding for research that aims to begin identifying which strains are best for different disease conditions. Of course this is just the start of it, but as research progresses cannabis will be able to be tailored to address specific medical conditions. Right now, it’s a bit of a hit and miss. I did buy CBD seeds to try growing in my garden this coming summer ( and a book on how to process it; it’s not difficult at all. ) The variety is called ‘ sweet nurse’. Here we can grow 4 plants per household for personal use ( ‘recreational’, unless you go get a prescription and then you grow whatever you need ). My plan is to make cannabis CBD butter and make edibles ( much cheaper than buying, and I figure mine will be all organic anyway). My Mom who is 85 uses cannabis drops to help her restless leg syndrome ( yes it helps her). It will be very interesting indeed to see where this route takes treatment for IBD. It looks promising. It’s too bad such a valuable plant to help people has been suppressed for so long.

I started using CBD oil for my CC symptoms about 7 months ago. It is the only thing that has helped my severe pain. While I cannot say it has reduced my trips to the bathroom it has greatly reduced my pain level. I was able to get off opioids and muscle relaxers. I do not take any NSAIDS unless I hurt my back at work and then only rarely. I do use marijuana nightly through a vaporizer unit for pain and insomnia. The formula of CBD oil that I use currently is specifically designed for GI symptoms. Hope this may help someone else who is suffering.
