Terry, sorry to hear about the problems, and now a hernia on top of it. Your previous doctors most have been confused about treating MC. Cholestyramine isn't prescribed to MC patients just to treat gallbladder problems — it's prescribed to treat bile acid malabsorption (BAM). BAM usually has nothing to do with the gallbladder, although in a few cases it can be caused by gallbladder overproduction.
Hope you're able to gain some weight soon.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Hi T,
I only took cholestyramine for a month but found it worked well. Like budesonide/entocort adjust the dose to your \
situation. If you get constipation cut back on the dose. I found a little bit was pretty effective for me but
you may want to start with the prescription dose particularly if you are struggling.
Hopefully it will kick in for you!

Two years ago or so when I had A colon spec I had to have EGD done by A general surgeon which revealed bile reflux my new GI only mentioned malabsorption but would not call it BAM I think he is trying not to go overboard with tests he is waiting to see if I benefit from Cholestyramine I think this hernia is throwing of my digestion process
