Riceworks Gourmet Rice Snacks
Hello. I haven't had any corn chips, etc. for almost 5 years so when I saw the Riceworks Gourmet Rice Snacks at Costco I thought I found something that I could safely eat. They are organic and were very good. They're shaped like a Dorito and taste a little like corn chips. I ate some on Saturday and then again on Sunday. Throughout the night on Sunday I woke up, sometimes being hot, other times cold. In the morning I had a headache and stomach ache and felt a bit feverish. So once again I'm back to only having potato chips when I want something salty/crunch. The ingredients are organic bumped brown rice, organic rice flour, organic ground white corn, organic vegetable oil (organic sunflower and/or organic safflower oil), organic sesame seeds and sea salt. With this disease I'll never know for sure if the rice snacks were the cause of my symptoms, but I'm not going to take the chance again. After work today I soaked my feet in Epsom salt and I'm feeling pretty much back to normal now.

Rice and arsenic
I just learned that rice is not safe because of arsenic. This my main food and in fact has been my only food during my really difficult flare ups. What grains are tolerated by MC sufferers?
The safest rice is white basmati rice from California, India and Pakistan. The rice with the highest arsenic risk in general is probably U. S. grown rice, especially rice grown in Texas and Louisiana. And all things equal, brown rice has a much higher arsenic content than white rice. But we shouldn't eat brown rice anyway (at least not while we're in recovery), because of the higher fiber content.
Sometimes we have to do what we have to do in order to recover. After we're in remission, then we can work out the details of our long-term diiet much more easily.
