Ways Histamine builds in the body
I've been trying to figure something out lately about histamine.
I have been eating cleanly and have felt fine for the most part, but it wasn't until my husband and I went to a concert 2.5 hours away from our home which entailed staying the night at a motel and partaking in loud music with 16,000 other fans (which I wore earplugs and enjoyed myself I feel) did I start to exhibit signs of sneezing, runny nose and just malaise in general for about 4-6 days afterwards.
Do we build up histamine from environmental situations? Or is the histamine from our immune system kicking into overdrive from adrenaline due to being busier than usual...I'm feeling perplexed as to why I was perfectly feeling fine and well but it wasn't until towards the end of the concert and sleeping in the motel did my nose stuff up and all "hell" broke out, lol. All related to histamine symptoms. I did not have any bathroom situations, just head stuff.
I have to say that I have been able to work it (meaning mucus, dry nose, tearing up eye) all out of my system but it has taken about 10 days....incredible.
Just another anomaly of this MC journey I suspect, but thought I'd throw it out there if anyone has any exhibited signs like this at some point too.

I wish I knew the answer to your question, because I seem to be getting more and more sensitive to histamine. My primary symptom is itching. I think that my symptoms are due mostly to histamine in food (and not so much from environmental influences), but unless you ate something with a high histamine content on that trip, your symptoms appear to be due to environmental allergens or environmental stresses.

Good morning Tex,
I forgot to mention itching!.....I'm doing that in waves also and that scares me because I don't want any more episodes of urticaria and the wheals that go with it!
The weather is a lot warmer here in Walla Walla for this time of year than usual so I wonder if mother nature is stirring up dust and extra yuck in the air because it hasn't gotten cold enough to freeze things and stop stuff from moving around in the air.
I guess I will chalk up my trip and symptoms to environment at this point (it may not have helped being in and around 16,000 people in the Spokane Arena) there were lots of bodies and flames and smoke from the concert program and I'm sure the static electricity from all the monitors (at least 50 of them) that they had above the stage created more energy than my body could handle probably. I'm sure I was using my magnesium like crazy there! I was in the 2nd tier and we were high up in the air (gave me motion vertigo for a while) and I'm sure I inhaled quite a bit of lingering smoke and anything else that got stirred up in that place, lol.
I ate clean, fresh made food as best I could too...
Well gee Tex I wish for better days for you too....I find when my life is calm an no extra strain on it I have been doing better, but then these last 3 months have been hell on wheels at my job and I've gone home just dragging and brain dead, it is getting better but I have a ways to go and I would have thought my MC would have exploded on me by now....if some of our MC symptom stuff is all in our heads I may as well go crazy now because I can't stop being busy! So the busy theory and histamine don't seem to work out, so environment is my only other thought at this time.
Well this post is all over the place....ha ha....I think of you often Tex and many others here. Take care and Merry Christmas

Hi Erica,
You know, sometimes I wonder if strong electromagnetic fields, or even powerful sound waves might provoke problems such as histamine issues. But of course I have no proof. For sure your lingering extra job stress is adding to the mix. I agree that it's a wonder that your MC has behaved itself so well.
Thanks, I hope your Holidays are filled with joy and love, also.

I may have to read up on EMF as I'm strongly wondering this myself now....I've been doing so well since April this year after taking the added Nano Silver teaspoon daily I've been able to keep virus and any other multitude of things away from myself, but not this huge histamine break out and this concert has been the only BIG event we've been to that had the level of EMF for disruption of this magnitude.

Thanks Gabes....doesn't surprise me that EMF has a great deal to do with histamine.
I will try to dig into the methylation side of things as well and see if I can connect any dots on myself.
I would certainly like to get a leg up on histamine when I know it's going to happen regardless of how well I am to myself.
Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to you!

Initial reading,
the other aspect - Hormonesif methylation is low, and T cell production is low, then histamine levels tend to be high
with underactivity of T cells, B cells can take over which increases autoimmunity issues in the body
https://www.samanthagilbert.com/histami ... imbalance/The interesting tie that binds the mast cell/methylation relationship together is the undercurrent of severe oxidative stress.
And what’s often behind oxidative stress?
Yep, it’s that pesky metal I frequently write about and see daily in my practice: copper.
This also explains why mast cell disorders most commonly affect women, with onset of serious symptoms beginning between the ages of 35 and 50 (but can occur much younger than that). The reason we ladies are hit so hard is because of the estrogen copper relationship.
Estrogen Copper Mast Cell Relationship
When estrogen rises, so too does copper and is also affected by the onslaught of hormonal events such as puberty, pregnancy and menopause. Exogenous sources are also a trigger for us including birth control, hormone replacement therapy (synthetic and natural sources), IUD’s, vitamin and mineral supplements, food, and drinking water.
Copper lowers dopamine and increases norepinephrine leading to anxiety, depression and in some cases, psychosis. With copper overload depression, 95% are female.
Postpartum depression is especially interesting because with each successive pregnancy, copper levels continue to rise rather then go back to normal after baby is born.
A classic symptom of histamine intolerance in women is that they feel uncomfortable and miserable throughout life, but during pregnancy feel fabulous. This is because DAO can be at 500 times higher concentration during pregnancy.

there is also the relationship with zinc and copper
https://www.mthfrsupport.com.au/dao-def ... onnection/
reading this - I would focus on B6 and Vit C to increase DAO functionality to balance histamineThe DAO enzyme is dependent on vitamin B6, B12, iron, copper and vitamin C, so it makes sense to increase the intake of these compounds.
Copper and Vit C are crucial components of the DAO enzyme and B6 is a key cofactor that enables DAO to degrade histamine.
Copper deficiency is another possible cause for low DAO activity, as copper is a central atom of the DAO and thus essential for its function. Because copper is essential to DAO function, copper levels should be monitored in patients with low DAO activity to avoid further DAO deterioration. Zinc levels should be checked at the same time, as zinc prevents intestinal copper absorption.
DAO vitamins and minerals
Vitamin C is well-known for its antihistaminic working. In a lot of cases, blood histamine levels are directly correlated to the vitamin C levels, and intake of vitamin C will lead to less histamine in a matter of days. It functions as a cofactor of DAO, just like vitamin B6 does. Vitamin C can be taken at doses of up to 3,000 mg to reduce histamine levels. Taking large amount of vitamin C is known as Megadosing.
DAO depends on vitamin B6 to function. If there is shortage of B6, the enzyme is practically useless. The intake of vitamin B6 often leads to a higher DAO activity. According to the NIH, doses of up to 2 mg should suffice for lactating mothers.
Magnesium is important in the histamine metabolism. A shortage increases the activity of histidine decarboxylase in some tissues. Histidine decarboxylase is the enzyme that makes histamine from histidine. While at the same time, a lack of magnesium intake leads to reduced DAO. The NIH recommends doses of up to 400 mg and Magnesium can be bought over the counter as 500 mg tablets.
Copper is another cofactor of DAO and able to reduce histamine levels. It’s not often recommended to supplement.
Zinc inhibits the release of histamine from mast cells. Supplementation is recommended.
Manganese also inhibits the release of histamine from mast cells much like zinc.

Great information Gabe’s!
I’ll take 100mg of B6 and start with 1000 mg VitC don’t want to give my MC permission to be sensitive to the C, I have taken VitC but 500 every other day...guess it’s not enough for this particular situation. I’m sure I’ll have to monitor it as well.
I wonder if it’s time again to have the copper, zinc tested. I eat plenty of protein so iron surely isn’t an issue. I take manganese and B12 daily as well as Mag and VitD so I’m hoping the imbalance isn’t to off to correct.

There are lots of veges that are high in Vit C also, maybe increase intake of these in a safe mode ( ie well cooked) cauliflower, Sweet potato.
When I need Vit C, i use a powder and sip it over the day to spread the dose and this minimises issue with my gut

Thank you Gabes,
I will work more dietary items into my life....perhaps a balance will be had soon! I just started taking an extra B6 and VitC in the evening along with my normal 200mg Magnesium.
Also I noticed recently if I have a good night sleep my symptoms are not quite so debilitating the next day!
Hugs
