Budesonide help
Hi friends,
I’ve been on budesonide for 12 months now. I am able to cut down to one a day or maybe even every other day before my symptoms seem to flare up again, usually full force. I am gluten, dairy & egg free and seem to do fairly well on the diet if I eat mostly at home. Has anyone taken the medication for this long? What are you thoughts on budesonide? I have lymphocytic colitis and Celiac disease.

Hi,
Yes, a number of members have taken budesonide for several years or longer. In my opinion, there are four possible reasons why you have been unsuccessful in your attempts to wean off budesonide. These are listed with the most likely reason first and the least likely reason last.
1. You are reacting to one or more of the foods in your diet, or a medication or supplement that you are taking, or a skin or hair product that you are using. The most likely problem is soy (unless your EnteroLab test result for soy was negative).
2. Your diet is somehow being cross-contaminated (probably by gluten).
3. Your stress level is so high that it is preventing remission.
4.Your sensitivities are so high that you are one of the few individuals who cannot maintain remission without a small maintenance dose of budesonide.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Just ignore the requests or demands for a prescription if they ask.
