Hello and I apologize if I’m posting this in the wrong place. I just found out my GI doctor has suddenly retired due to a health crisis. It’s very upsetting because I liked her a lot. Does anyone know a female GI doctor in the Dallas, Texas area that they would recommend? I know there are a lot of great male GI’s in the area but I would just feel more comfortable with a female like the one who retired. I would greatly appreciate any recommendations. I have Collagenous Colitis.
Thank you,
Allison

Welcome
we have a few members that are from that area, but they are not so active on forum these days.
If you use the 'search the archives of this discussion board' option
you can search the relevant areas of the forum for key words like 'Dallas' etc
like this area
https://perskyfarms.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=14422 - List of Recommended Doctors
in the search function you can search for the keyword and narrow down results that they only come from that thread area
good luck

Allison-
I live in the DFW area and saw Dr. Karen Steffer at Texas Digestive Disease Consultants (TCCD) in Southlake. I found her to be attentive and she figured out I had LC before I even knew what it was. She did my colonoscopy/endoscopy and confirmed the diagnosis. The office was great about having my Budesonide compounded locally which was much cheaper. This was back in 2015.
That being said, after the medicine did not work for me (6 months) I felt she was out of options and made me feel like it was unusual for the meds not to work etc. I did not go back after a few follow ups so a mixed bag.
I ended up working with my primary care physician and I now also have a functional person who is a P.A. He is local also. I am 5 months in with him and while it's a slow process, I am making a lot of progress and it's an interesting journey. I at least feel like he understands and "speaks my language" His name is Jake Duncan at Stewarding Life Wellness. He is also addressing my thyroid issue as well as smaller issues that come up when you actually do very extensive testing.
I hope this is helpful!

Gabes,
Yes thank you for the link. “Dallas” doesn’t come up with many responses in the query yet, I’m afraid. It seems like these conditions have been around for such a long time really but they are only starting to get noticed within the world of GI doctors. I appreciate your help. Allison
Taia,
Thank you! Yes I might end up having my PCP handle my GI meds as well. I find that some of the doctors I have been to have had a tendency to get frustrated as well when their first or second solutions don’t work like they expected. It’s difficult for them I’m sure but it’s a rare gem to find a doctor who will keep troubleshooting with patience. Sometimes hard to find..
That’s great about your functional PA. He sounds like he’s been a huge help to you.
Thank you for helping! Allison
