Question about gluten-free Oats
My Enterolab test says I shouldn't eat oats, #1 on the bad list. I am wondering whether I can eat the gluten-free oats. Thanks

There are more than one answer to this question, but all of them are no. Most people who are sensitive to gluten are also sensitive to avenin, the primary storage protein in oats. Avenin in oats is very similar to gluten in wheat, only weaker, so it usually takes longer before you react. But you will react. The EnteroLab test is based on pure oats, not contaminated oats.

By the way, thanks to your posts about your health I decided to have a CT heart scan and found I have the beginning of coronary atherosclerosis (I will be 75 this month so no surprise I guess) so I will be taking a statin. The Doc also wants me to take 81 mg of baby aspirin. Thanks for telling your story.

Reaction to Oats
Thanks to Tex, now I know. He is a wealth of information. I had a reaction to oats and decided to buy GF oats. Well, guess what, I'm in a bad way this morning after eating them last night. There's another item to update my list with. It is frustrating, but I'm moving onward and upward.
I feel like food is my enemy . . .
