Fasting-Mimicking Diet Helps Colitis

Post by Rosie »

I saw this in Science Daily. There is a link in the article to the scientific paper, and the entire article is accessible for free. There’s got to be a reason that fasting is part of nearly every culture and built into a lot of religious traditions…
Fasting-mimicking diet holds promise for treating people with inflammatory bowel disease, a new study finds. A clinical trial shows reduction of inflammation in humans and in mice, the diet appears to reverse Crohn's and colitis pathology.

Interesting approach. It appears to emphasize cutting out "calorie-rich" foods. Let's see now . . . that would be foods like gluten, sugar, dairy products . . . hmmmm.

It's no wonder that it reduces inflammation.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
